YO JOE!  :)

Ok, with that out of the way, let's get down to business.  Here is my assembled shots of the GI Joe force from my Round 10 entry.  I had these guys as a possible inset photo but decided against it as I felt the overall collage looked too busy.  I did notice however that the cliff back ground that I used washed out some of the figures so that they were not as visible.  Hence, this group shot against a plain graded background:

Chuckles, Timber, Snake Eyes, Duke, Snow Job, Beachhead, Deep Six and Shipwreck
Now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb...

Role call...Chuckles

Specialty             Undercover
File name             Provost, Philip M.
Birth place           Little Rock, Arkansas
Rank                   E-5 (Sergeant)
Primary MOS        Criminal Investigations
Secondary MOS    Intelligence

I had this mini from Pulp Figures and he fit the bill rather well without a need for converting.  Chuckles was kind of a silent strongman in GI Joe: The Movie and wasn't a favourite but he was good filler  :)  I used a similar idea for his shirt on my Round 6 entry Madam Mar's Murderous Maidens as a test and it came out rather well IMO.

Role call...Snake Eyes

Specialty           Commando
                       Covert Mission Specialist
File name           Classified
Birth place          Classified
SIN                   Classified
Rank                  E-8 Master Sergeant
Primary MOS       Infantry
Secondary MOS   Hand-to-hand combat instructor

This Chronoscope model (Cobra - Modern Ninja) needed no conversion save the visor (out of gs) as I preferred this look over the 'sunglasses/goggles' look. Timber is a Reaper wolf (unconverted).

Role call...Duke

Specialty            First Sergeant
File name            Hauser, Conrad S.
Birth place          St. Louis, Missouri
SN                    RA 213-75-7793
Rank                  E-8 (First Sergeant)
Primary MOS       (11Z) Infantry Senior Sergeant
Secondary MOS   (13B) Cannon Crew Member, (91F) Small Arms/Artillery Repairer

This was an unconverted Pulp Figures mini who had the basic military look with crew cut that I was going for.  I never cared much for Duke anyways but he was needed for bonus points.  The cigar was a nice touch although I don't think he would have had one during his Public Service Announcements.

Role call... Snowjob

Specialty           Arctic Trooper
File name           Moore, Harlan W.
Birth place         Rutland, VT
SN                    RA773658456
Rank                 E-6 (Staff Sergeant)
Primary MOS       Arctic Ski Patrol
Secondary MOS   Rifle Instructor

Snow job was always cool. Literally.  ::) 8)
This is another Pulp Figures mini with no conversion. He's perfect just the way he is.  It always bugged me that this guy wasn't from Canada.  But here snow is a way of life, not just a job and Snowlife just doesn't have the same ring to it...

Role call...Beachhead

Specialty             Ranger
File name             Sneeden, Wayne R.
Birth place           Auburn, Alabama
SN                     RA011-60-9231
Rank                  E-9 Command Sergeant Major
Primary MOS        Infantry
Secondary MOS    Small Arms Armorer

Beachhead was the GI Joe's resident bad-ass.  He looked cool and didn't take any shit.  In fact, I was convinced this guy was part of Cobra when I was a kid.  Easily my favourite Joe.  The mini is from Rafm's USX line: "Decius" Terrorist Cell Leader (with green stuff to fill the mouth of the balaclava).  With a name that that, no wonder I thought Beachhead was from Cobra...

Role call...Deep Six

Specialty             S.H.A.R.C. Driver
File name             Willoughby, Malcolm R.
Birth place            Baltimore, Maryland
SN                       RA226960917
Rank                    Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class
Primary MOS          Diver
Secondary MOS     Small Craft Pilot

Perhaps the worst GI Joe of the first couple of years (until they went late 80's neon) and by far the worst toy. Deep Six is pure filler.  I had the Chronoscope astronaut for some reason and he was close enough.

Role call...Shipwreck

Specialty            Sailor, Navy SEAL
File name            Delgado, Hector X.
Birth place          Chula Vista, CA
SN                     924-92-5456
Rank                   E-7 Chief Petty Officer
Primary MOS         Gunner's Mate
Secondary MOS    Machinist

Yet another Pulp Figures mini.  These figs are a blast to paint and have great details and I used the opportunity to paint my Round 9 entry "In the Navy" with the rest of the models from this pack.  Polly is a conversion from another Pulp Figures mini.  Shipwreck was one of those tattooed sailor types that your parents and grandparents warned you about.
And Gung-Ho too.

The GI Joe threads are by far my favourite things to pop up on here...really tempting to try this all too, but I have much less painting/modelling ability.

I think a small GI Joe skirmish game could be an absolute blast.  The Trouble Bubble is genius by the way, and the modifications to the Rattler are sublime.

This whole thread is amazing! Your Cobra Commander looks fantastic. All the Joes are lovely. You've given me a couple ideas there. The Rattler is way cool. But the one that gets me is the Trouble Bubble. I've been trying to figure out how to make the canopy for that thing for over a year now, and here you go and do the work for me. Thank you. (Why oh why didn't I think of a helicopter canopy?)
Well done sir. Well done.
