It's a frothers mini from the sculpting contest of 2006. I am not sure who makes it now.

Actually, all the minis are from that Frothers Unite sculpting contest. I also have no clue who might sell them now. I know hasslefree miniatures sells some of te miniatures from the set, but alas, not these.

Been paying a lot more attention to the Frothers sets, since I mangaged to miss out on the "What women want" and "Alice in Wonderland: sets. Not sure yet about buying this years set though...

Yet another difficult decision!

My one cavil about the Pirate crew is that I feel that the Polka-dotted shirt draws a bit too much focus. It might have been better to give it to Mary herself, as she rather lacks visual interest as the leader of the crew.

Is it just me, or are the classic Foundry Pirates showing their age a bit in light of the explosion in Pirate sculpts from other companies...?

This was a tough choice for me.  The mad science crew is obviously very well painted (just look at the faces), but so are the pirates, and they're better photographed as well.  My knee-jerk response was to vote for the mad doctors because they meet the theme, but then I remembered that meeting the theme has already earned them bonus points, and perhaps it shouldn't earn them votes as well.  Crap, who do I vote for?!

This sounds kinda weird, but although both groups are painted so well, I was impressed by the institutional-hospital checkered black and white tile floor!
