Pulp video games?
« on: July 03, 2013, 09:23:08 PM »
Not wargames of course, but I was wondering if anyone knows any good video games that have really embodied the pulp ethos.

I found it odd that I can think of plenty of pulp movies, but not a single video game (except perhaps the Indiana Jones franchise games, which are more just a case of someone making a licensed product).

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

The Uncharted series on PS3 for me. Modern setting, but pretty Pulpy and all great games, very cinematic and inspiring.

I'm pretty much stuck with my PC here, but in any case, I'm sort of thinking of things set right in the proper pulp period.

That's the right time period alright, but isn't that really more of just a detective game?

I mean, I am genuinely surprised that there really aren't any games out there in a pulp setting. That seems like some incredibly rich territory to mine for ideas and fun.

Lost Horizon has a great Indiana Jones feel to it.
