Sky Pirates Teaser
« on: 06 May 2008, 05:10:01 PM »

Oh yeah baby!  Daddy got a new set of toys!

These will be turned into planes for characters and NPCs in my Sky Pirates campaign which I intend to start in WWI and run through the end of WWII and beyond.

I'll be adding a more detailed initial look at the kits on my blog later today.

Great! Are they in 1/48? If so, where from is the Jenny?

Yes they are all 1/48.  The Jenny is a Lindberg I got from Internet Hobbies.

I pity the Jenny crew that gets caught alone by an Albatros! It's got 35 mph and 3000 feet of altitude on her!

The Jenny will be used more as a Trainer/Observer by the Sky Pirates and will be as much as scenic piece for their Aerodrome as anything.  I'm sure it will find it's way into a few episodes though escorted by the SPADs of course.

Crikey. Can't wait to see what you do with them. That plane you showed us a while back was superb, so I'm looking forward to these.

Thanks Plynkes.  I'm not sure if I'm going to go as far as you did with the rigging on most of these planes although I doubt the Jenny will look right witout it so I'll try to get it right on that one.

I've added some more information about these kits to my blog.  I hope to start with one of the SPADs sometime this week so we will see how they turn out.

It's a bit of a pain in the arse, but nowhere near as scary as you might imagine it to be until you've given it a try. And it really makes a visual impact.

But for wargaming models it is perhaps going a little too far. I was certainly quite happy using non-rigged planes for years. Now the bug has bitten me I wouldn't go back to not doing it, but I certainly wouldn't blame anyone else for staying sensible like I used to be, and giving it a miss.
