identification of some troops
« on: 16 July 2013, 05:31:49 PM »
Many years ago I bought two bags of ww2 troops on ebay, I can't remember which armies they were from.  I never ended up playing ww2 and don't know much about weapons and uniforms.  Can anyone guess at or recognize the nationality/theater of these samples?

exhibit A

exhibit B

Thanks for the help.

At a guess they're late war German troops.

Thanks guys.  Would I be mocked horribly if I tried to paint them up for a Guadalcanal game as Japanese or marines?  Could they pass for either?

Yes sorry mate  :)mate, they are germans so western front or eastern front in Europe. They would be spotted immediately if centred into the Pacific campaign

I went ahead and bought some new ones for the Guadalcanal game.  A few questions though,  did the marines ever go shirtless in that battle and did they have flamethrowers?

Thanks

They are indeed LW Germans from the Command Decision range sold by Old glory and Skytrex

Nice figures I have quite a few they do Japanese which are good too

Although Skytrex had a 50% price hike recently the infantry are still competitive with other brands especially during one of their frequent sales. Old Glory UK prices are slightly lower (when there is not a sale on) but the casting quality is erratic. In the US they are really cheap but comment re casting quality applies.
