Terragnosis: Sulphur
« on: 17 July 2013, 09:23:33 AM »
Two years in development and it still looks like Digganob 2... o_o

Anyhow, a new postapocalyptic kind of thingy for those who haven't noticed it making rounds on news sites yet. Sorta-GWish-cars, big guns and mutant cyborgs (but no zombies yet as far as I could see). Some nice-looking renders but I don't care for the scale (32mm). KickStarter coming soon (one assumes).

ETA - This is no longer about a KickStarter since that was aborted long ago.

I like the cyborgs. Even at 32mm scale they could be feasible for other games - Just think over developed/enhanced growth.

On the other hand. I'm just not a fan of oversized weapons and over-armed models. To me they just look plain stupid. Don't people seem to get the concept that weapons are HEAVY. Just try holding a jackhammer up to you shoulder for 5 minutes with one arm.
Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Some great ideas in there, I especially like the flexibility on the truck

Nice idea, I but I cannot stand seeing all those Kickstarters anymore  :(

Let's just hope they will not try to do any of this "Only at KS"-nonsense or get lost in fullfilling the KS Pledges.
Far less active than I used to...

Hmm, the setting looks not to be quite as classically post-apocalyptic as I first thought... Terragnosis are introducing high-tech aliens into the mix as well:
http://www.terragnosis.co.uk/sulphur_preview4.shtml

Conceptually they seem somewhat akin to Cogs from Rackham's AT-43. It'll be interesting to see how large these exosuits are, if they aren't humongous (like the Cogs) I may need some...

ETA - just noticed they give an approx size of 45mm in the blurb. Would've preferred a bit smaller tho they aren't quite Cog-sized.

If they were better scaled, they'd be great for 'Rage' based game.

Glad to see they stilll live. I was hoping to grab some of their cars for my Dark Future 125% project (by blowing matchbox scale up to 1:50 I was hoping to use cars compatible with my collection of 32mm minis).

Sulphur KS is up and running:

I might go for the Shing starter, sadly it's pretty high up on the stretch goals tree.

I pledged for £1 so I can make comments and see what I might want... it may end up just some of the terrain but time will tell...

I think its the 32mm scale that is holding me back from pledging more [and my current pledge on Mars Attacks.]

I like the concept and the renders do look nice... I guess I will wait and see what happens.

Is this really necessary? It's just offensive. Why in the world would you want to write that and who is supposed to be thinking it's acceptable? >:(

"Goal 8: Buzz..

Handy in a fight but a specialist at assaulting light vehicles and cutting chunks off them. Comes with two head options (I'm afraid those pig tails are from a little girl he hollowed out to wear as a trophy)."

It's not my thing either, but it's no worse than some of sources they were probably inspired by.  The Mad Max and Fallout universes are pretty rough in their own right.

They look like nice models, but nfortunately, Terragnosis will be casting everything in resin.  Resin is great to work with, but too pricey for an entire game for me.

Not fond of resin either, for reasons other than cost. Still, I'm thinking the Shing would be a good set at KS prices all the same. Sure they are £7+ per fig (p&p included) but then they are supposedly multipart and clearly bigger than a 32mm human miniature.
