Warlord Games Day 2013 & IHMN
« on: 20 July 2013, 09:34:01 AM »
Ladies & Gentlemen,

Next Saturday, the 27th July, the boy Conor and I shall be in Nottingham attending the first Warlord Games Day (http://www.warlordgames.com/home/warlord-games-day-2013/).

There we shall supporting those brave chaps of The White Hart as they once more run a demo/participation game of IHMN for the public. This time we shall be using Dewbakuk's brand new boards depicting a London street and a docks area. Expect much boisterousness and the frequent shouting of Huzzah! Blood will flow...

If any of you who are going to this prestigious event would like to drop by and see the game, or even chat to me please do so. I am the large gentleman in a white T-shirt proclaiming 'Feeling Plucky Sir?' and with a well-trimmed chin-hedge.

A report and photographs of the event shall follow.

Huzzah!!
My sincerest contrafibularities
General Lord Craig Arthur Wellesey Cartmell (ret'd)

Just the dock, not the street section for this one. I've not managed to fanangle the buildings for the other part yet :(
It's taken this long just to get the warehouses.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Have neither the space nor the time currently. Plus not all of us have accesss to those wonderful toys....

Hopefully breaking ground on my outbuilding on Tuesday though, so the gaming/modelling space isuuse will be solved at least. Then I have somewhere to hide and claim time :)

I am sure that if you bring it everyone will be impressed.

Had a brilliant day out at the Warlord Games Day, hats off to the team for organising this one.  Apart from a slightly warm and dark hall, there were no negatives to speak of.  I had fond memories of the Citadel open days (back in the 1980s at the Chewton St, Eastwood premises) and the Warlord event was very much in this vein.  Very open and friendly atmosphere all round.  The main hall had a number of extra traders and the quality of the games was top notch throughout.  I admired Northstar's IHMN game (very creative use of lentils by Dean on the cobbled quayside...) and met worthy author Craig too. (I'm told IHMN has already on its second print run, congratulations!)

The guided tours of the Warlord production facilities were brilliant, and the production staff couldn't have been more helpful, especially in the resin casting dept.  I only took in one of the Q&A talks, the Perry Twins, who were very unassuming but delivered a fascinating talk on sculpting and answered questions with good humour.

Overall, I had a very relaxed and enjoyable day out, and a very different one to a regular wargames show.  The production tour and Q&A certainly gave me a great insight into how the wargames industry works.  Thank you Warlord Games. :)
