Review of DGS Games, Black Rose Bandit Starter Set
« on: 23 July 2013, 03:26:04 PM »
It has been a while since I have posted a review, so here's a review of the Black Rose Bandit Starter Set made by DGS Games to be used for their fantasy skirmish game called Freeblades. Before we continue with the actual, we will first take a look at DGS Games as a company.

DGS Games produces high quality metal miniatures in the 32mm scale. DGS is also developing game systems that use these unique figures in our fantasy World of Faelon. You can see greens, concept art and painted figures in the Gallery section of the website. Our first game is Freeblades, a fantasy skirmish game set in the vibrant World of Faelon. Freeblades are fortune hunters who operate under contract from one of Faelon’s many factions. A freeblade contract permits the holder to operate without restraint outside of the issuing faction’s boundaries for a share of any plunder or profit. In return, the freeblades can expect protection once back inside the faction’s borders. If they make it there…

Interested in the review including pictures of the miniatures as they come in the box, assembled and a useful scale comparison? Take a look at my blog: http://wargameterrain.blogspot.be/2013/07/dgs-games-black-rose-bandit-starter-set.html

More reviews of other manufacturers can be found here: http://wargameterrain.blogspot.be/p/reviews.html

Have you already played the Freeblades rulesystem for which these miniatures where designed? Let me know how they play and what you think of the rules.

Cheers

I have seen this range before and found them to be very large figures. I didn't buy any b/c of that fact. They reminded me of that European range (Manorhouse?) It occurs to me they might go with the GRR Martin figures from Dark Sword (?) - IIRC those figures are listed as 1/48th scale...

I saw the rules at H'con and almost bought them b/c they looked nice. No idea about mechanics.

Hi, the miniatures are sold as 32mm and as you say may fit the Dark Sword miniatures, would take a comparison but don't own any Dark Sword miniatures. Despite their larger size that may put some wargamers off, they are really great with nice details and I can also see them used in RPG's as character representations.
