Comparing different spaceship design systems
« on: 13 August 2013, 07:27:50 PM »
Hi all,

I've written a series of articles comparing the design systems from several different space games. It's being hosted here:

Hope you enjoy,

I always like this kind of article, I am the kind of wargamer who has an interest in games for the sake of games alone so getting some perspective on them like this tickles my fancy.  lol

@Scurv,

Yes Squadron Strike will definitely appeal to those who like to fiddle around with ship designs - you know making dozens of ships that never see the table.  But, it also is quite playable.  Our group hasn't dug too far into designing our own ships (well except me), as there are lots of great ships available to play with as well (all designed by Ken Burnside and use the game design engine of course).

Just noticed I missed posting last week.  So here are two articles.

Part 6 - Fighters and Carriers:

Part 7 - Additional Systems:

Hi All,

The intro to the second half of the series is up:

The following 6 installments will showcase designing a BFG Lunar Class Cruiser using the different rule sets.

@Scurv Just to be clear, Squadron Strike is the most 'accessible' of Ad Astra games. If you can find someone with a copy, check out Attack Vector: Tactical.

Many devotees, and none that I know personally.  lol
