First Post, Feudal English.
« on: 31 August 2013, 01:57:22 PM »
Hi,

First post on LAF so here's a bit of background waffle, Long time gamer painter but mainly in the 10mm scale, I have painted and gamed 28s in the past but over the last 12 months wanting to get better painting in the bigger scale I've slowly got back into full on 28mm painting and put the 10mm on hold.
My project is to build up a Feudal English Army from around the time of Magna Carta. Starting with a Saga size type of warband up to and through an Impetus army and beyond. And doing it all in plastics.I started a Blog to help me keep going when the painting urge is at a low eb.

Heres the link to the Blog for those who'd like a toot:-

Heres my 10mm Blog for those who like the Grandscale:-

Here's a couple of photos (more on the Blog) to give you a general idea so any advise on improving my painting would be much appreciated I'm trying to give the army a look in the style of the military artist Jason Askew (sample pics on Blog)which is gritty and without clean lines, but I don't want the army to just look or be badly painted.

Well that's me, looking forward to being a forum member :)
Best Regards
Jason.

Thanks, after a good look at some of the armies posted on here :) :-* I think my painting will need quite some improvement.

They look good. Your technique is quite impressionistic - but very effective and bold at a distance. Personally, I like them a lot. Great colour choices too.

I  don't think you've got anything to worry about on the painting standard front, sir, very impressive! :o

Just as an aside, is that the Earl of Buchan lurking amongst your kinigits, menacing people with an axe..?

Cheers

Magnificent! Your painting is brilliant. I have followed your Grand Scale Wargaming blog for a while, so it's nice to see you posting here, too.

Hi Jason - welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy your time on here.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your painting style - they look fantastic. In fact they are some of the best painted Fireforge minis I have seen so far.

Is the main man William Marshal? The green/yellow with lion rampant was his symbol, and he was present for many decades on the battle field, so I am assuming it is meant to be him?

Excellent figures and well painted.  I like the idea of a Medieval SAGA warband. Perhaps we can persuade the guys at Studio Tomahawk and Gripping Beast to branch out beyond the Dark Ages.
