Ahahaha! I see you finally acquired a trimotor! Perfect!  :D :D :D

Is a DC-3 in the works as well? Then you'd have the perfect pair of pulp passenger aircraft.

Though to be honest, I admit I can't think of a scenario where you actually need two passenger planes. Hmmmm... ideas!

Yes! Finally!  ;)

There are so many planes I'd like to have, but I need to hold off for awhile. However, the two I really want is a Curtiss Jenny and a Curtiss R3C Racer.

Once I get my R3C, I'll be quite satisfied.       ...for awhile.

Wow, that's interesting because I thought that 28mm scale when converted equaled 1\48th, yet your aircraft doesn't look out of scale at all which made me think that it was 1\48th. :?  When I went looking to get one myself I discounted the 1\72 scale available because I thought they would be too small compared to the minis.  ;D

Prof I would certainly have preferred a 1/48 scale. However, in this case I went with 1/72 based on cost, availability, frequency of use, cost, portability, table space, and cost.  :D

The seaplane version of the R3C?  lol

Ayup, that's the one!  I'd like to get a Fine Molds 1/48 model, but there are a couple cheaper ones available. I'll just have to see how far our shoestring budget will stretch.  lol lol

The bane of all good wargaming fun!

Also, Testors does a 1/48 Curtis Racer that can be found cheap. It wont have the cool Porco Roso gun blisters but is a much cheaper kit. I have used 2 of the Testors 1/48 planes [Ryan PT and the Mystery Airship turned Rocket plane] and they are simple, hardy, kits that I think are perfect for wargaming.

I look forward to seeing your RC3.

Brilliant report and game, as always, looking forward to Chapter 3. I've now had to go and buy a Ford Tri-motor on eBay! More expense but I couldn't help it after seeing your set-up.

Mine just arrived from across the pond. I'm a tad confused on the scale as it's definitely advertised as 1/48th yet it looks a bit small for a tri motor  :? Even if it is just a limited edition, collectable 'MONEY BOX'  :o

http://www.obsdiecastplanes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_21&products_id=1117&zenid=4lc1890ptl3o4ap3lp770shon1

I bought mine off EBay where most were advertised for around the link's price, but I scored mine for $12.00.  A one of it seems as there are none around at that price anymore since I looked.  :( The postage was another story all together, but I've known for a long time that what you save on the merry go round, you pay for on the swing. At least it's die cast and won't break when I drop it which is on the cards sooner or later.  ;D

Nice buy. I'm looking for a plane myself (that doesn't land on water).
From the measurements I'm fairly sure it's roughly 1/76 scale or so. Length of 50ft by wingspan 77ft would make for a 12x19inch plane at 1/48. :(  Hopefully didn't screw up the math.

Now, a plane you say ...
"Ho, ho, ho! Well, if it isn't fat stinking billy goat Billy Boy in poison! How art thou, thou globby bottle of cheap, stinking chip oil? Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles, you eunuch jelly thou!"

Yup, I used a cheap 1/72 Revell model of a Ford Trimotor (about $12). It's not to scale, but it works good for this scenario.

HAVE FUN
