The building was ordered with the sole purpose of being a man cave/hobby area. Upstairs will be painting, work, gaming area. Downstairs will hold bookcases for reference/reading materials. Basically set up like a den/library. Wife thought it would be a good idea for me to have an area all to myself. She is definitely a keeper. Painting it now. Took the builders 3 days to put it up. I will post pictures when painted. Then ask advice on getting the best use of the available space. Thanks.

I would still be suspicious. I mean it will only take a match to see you and all your worldly possessions disappear in a flash if there's an argument. Be even more suspicious if she drops "accidents happen" into every conversation you have with her. :D

Jokes aside, looking forward to seeing this build develop.

You know, if you knew a few Amish, your man-cave would be finished now (well, except for for power or running water. Don't be offended! They'll never read this!)

Seriously, just a cool concept and I'm a bit jealous!

Wonderful.  My wife and I recently had this same conversation.  Mostly because she wants the current hobby room to transform into a guest bedroom for visitors.  We were looking at these standalone outbuildings.  I'll be watching this with interest so I know how to execute properly. Thanks so much for sharing.
This is my boomstick!
