My buddy sent your blog to his dad. We both thought it was pretty wild that someone is actually wargaming his command!

That's awesome - if he wants to chat, ever, let me know. Certainly would like to pick his brain!!! :D

I don't think he'll be open for communications. But I did ask my friend if his dad had had anything to say and my buddy did mention his dad was impressed with the accuracy of your setup, recognising the correct machine guns, etc.

Relevant background: This is a man who also visted one of the Canadian military museums, one which had one of his former leopard tanks, and who not only recognised the turret was NOT Canadian, but actually waited for the museum to close, then, broke into the tank, climbed in, and confirmed his suspicions (the museum staff had used a German turret - it had a different serial number and all the internal text was in German), then filed a complaint with the museum management.

So if he's praising your accuracy, that's high praise indeed!

Coming on nicely!

Just one query, you mention doing them in NATO 3 colour cam; aren't they in that very distinctive green, yellow-green and black camo scheme back then? Apart from the Leo in its special anti-IR green, that is.

Thanks!

This is what I meant:
http://www.armouredacorn.com/Refs-%20Thumbprints%20&%20Images/CVM%20Index/M113%20Family.pdf

And before that, they had this awesome scheme:
http://www.armouredacorn.com/Refs-%20Thumbprints%20&%20Images/CVM/CVM%20Part%2010%20(Centurions).pdf - see the non-solid Cent.

Is that the one, or have I labelled the first link wrong?

That's the one; nice, uniquely Canadian scheme.

I spent ages trying to get CAST finished for the 'Arctic Strike 2013' Cold War Commander Mega-game earlier this year - and in the miiddle of working away from home too! - and spent a long time painting that scheme. When I closed my eyes at night, I could still see it!

The camo Cent on the Armoured Acorn site is nice too. Very similar to a US pre-MERDC scheme I've seen. My only micro-opponent and I have got 60's British and Russian forces (to go with multiple NATO and WARPAC division's for the 80's!), it might be nice to do 4th CMBG for then as well!

Oh, and CAST never made it out of the box for the Mega-game :'( Managed to hold off multiple brigades of Soviets with a Norweigian Mech brigade belonging to Mark Bevis and supported by some rapidly diminishing Finn's!

Lovely work, 6mm modern tanks were my first real gaming passion - unfortunately I all but gave them away when the wall came down.

What are you planning to use as your OPFOR for these chaps?

Sorry for the late response! This project has sat ... for a bit  lol

Opfor are Russians, provided by regular gaming opponent Wally. He's painted a LOT OF THEM  :o
(need to get on to my Leopards ...)

Anyway, my infantry are about done, some basing to finish.
