Free Orcs to a good home!
« on: 01 October 2013, 05:02:42 PM »
Orctober is the month to reflect on just how great orcs are. Whilst trawling through the Orc lead pile I realised I had far to much stuff, far too many doubles, dare I say triples in my collection.  So in order to gently nudge the hobby community to give orcs some love and ease the lead pile a tad I'm giving away a bunch of stuff, first lot can be seen on my blog.

There will be other rarer giveaways and a campaign system I've been working on for Orc on Orc fun.

You don't have to follow the blog to win (though I won't say no to that either), just post up some cool Orc related stuff here or on your blog and let the community know about your love for the green skins (or whatever colour you go for.)

http://ernysplace.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/happy-orctober-first-free-miniatures.html

If you love these old plastics as much as i do let me know, If you can't stand them let me know too and I'll see what else is lurking on the lead pile.

Not really Orcs/Orks as such, but something remotely related. I did draw some decals to go on the shields of Gobbos and goblin sized mutants- I guess you could use them for Orc shields as well (if you don't mind a little bit of silliness).

Well, I gots me no need for plastic Orcs, thanks, but I'm happy to share this.

This project comes from the very early days of my hobby rennaissance (I took a break from about 18 to 28 to get laid as much as possible), about ten years or more ago, so apologies for my slightly more rudimentary painting style and even rudimentarier (?!) photography.

At the time I had this old Orcs & Goblins Army Book and wanted to make the Orc chief from the front cover, but in a more dynamic pose.

I got a customer to pay for it (I didn't want to keep the model, just make it!) and then launched into it, using all sorts of bits and pieces from my spares box. The main body is a metal Minotaur Lord and the base is made from Empire plastics.

Lots of greenstuff, wires, brass chain and use of mini-drill.

The axe needed to be made, from various bits and pieces.

More spikes, heads and various fiddly things.

Static grass as fur.

Finished and ready for paint.

A shot in his black undercoat to show the scale of the big bugger (plus a glance at my earlier painting style).

And a couple of pics in his painted glory, including a close-up of the face (with dodgy background - sorry) and one of the base.

Hey, Cubs, if getting laid lets you built and paint that model I guess I'll have serious reconsideration to do... :D
That's one awesome orc boss you made there.

Not looking too shabby for a first day of Orciness..

Love the shield designs ink the troll, old school with a modern twist, I think I have a unit they may look good on.

Cubs your Warlord is amazing that's not a conversion that is pretty much a new sculpt. Whilst a little modern for me it is still clearly old school. If GW had made their new orcs look like this in the 2000's I may have come along with the new look. Seeing the breastplate and helm from the Skeleton armies sprue used on a corpse made me smile.

Orctrader, great name by the way (have I mentioned I love orcs), how come with a name like that you have painted so few of the blighters. You do such a good job, purple lips a almost obligatory.

Post a pic if/ when you use them (and you can upload the decals to your blog as well, if you want to).

More wonderful posts celebrating Orctober.

The kids are joining in painting miniatures five times older than themselves:

OLD PLASTIC orcs?

I'm DEFINITELY in!

These are very old pictures, and they comprise just a SMALL part of my orc army, but here they are:

(Sorry, for some reason, I seem unable to include the pics directly, so here are the links)

Scratch built Catapult with plastic crew

And some characters

Does this qualify for the give away plastic orcs?  :D

Thanks and best wishes to all participating!
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

This is really a wonderful gesture, but I feel like I should exclude myself from it because I'm from the U.S. so getting free orcs would probably be a pain in my warty green gluts AND yours. Assuming you're Over There, anyway.
I don't even have any of my orcs painted! All I do have is this cool old picture I found, so I'll just show it off cause it's got orcs in it.

Not a big deal, I never win anything anyway.  :D
