In order to tempt you a little more, see the following link:

http://www.military-collections.com/Greek%20War%20Museum.html

In particular note the photo 13 legend says: "Krupp mobile armored carriage 1914"
in fact it was captured 1 year earlier during the 2nd Balkan War (1913)
A horse drawn tank???
or could be a bicycle/tricycle tank? [Sorry I posted it here, this could also belong to VSF as well]

It's a Fahrpanzer - a horse drawn portable defensive turret. More info (and pics) on the Landships site: http://www.landships.freeservers.com/new_pages/matador__fahrpanzer_kitreview.htm

thank you very much for the link. I have never noticed this link before.
to my imagination it could be more VSF/pulpy stuff if it was a pedal drawn (bicycle or somenthing.

Went to the same museum only to find that they closed early on the day I went and it was my last day in Athens. I was actually there for an International DBM competition which was held in an old Gasworks (Gazi) on the other side of Athens. A lot of these pieces are actualy outside the museum and I took pics until my camera ran out of space on the memory card! ;-(> But I have many of the same pics on my PC after I downloaded them.

Came across this whilst surfing around.  ::) Interesting helmets in Salonika, November 1915.

Those definately look like a pickelhaub with out a spike and a cloth or leather flap attached at the back, or maybe they are wearing a soft forage cap underneath.  Reminds me of the Japanese during WW2 or perhaps the cloth attached to a kepi in the french style.

Darkoath, if you check out the article in the link it turns out they are a kind of ersatz pickelhaube commonly issued in the Balkans called a scroll helmet. Quite an interesting read.

Thanks. That just brings up more questions for me, though, I'm afraid.

These Bulgarians are making me tear my hair out. Grey-Green, "Tobacco Brown" and now this very sandy light khaki. I'm struggling to figure out which Bulgarian troops wore what and when.

You're in luck. I found a copy of Funken's WWI uniforms Vol1 on a flea market last Sunday.  :)

Here's a quick translation/resumé of what's mentioned in the section concerning the Bulgarian army:
The Bulgarian infanty wore the ancient brownish uniform but another grey-green uniform was also in issue at the same time. Impovished by the Balkan wars, Bulgaria was reduced to using expedients to clothe its troops and in the years 1915-18 many uniforms of German origin made their appearance upon which a few national insigna were affixed.

I can send you pdfs of the two colour plates if you're interested.
