Khurasan releases T-62 tank
« on: October 04, 2013, 03:12:42 PM »
We are very pleased to release the next product for our new 15mm Yom Kippur War range, the dreaded Soviet T-62 Main Battle Tank. This tank had heavier armor than the T-55, but its real distinction was its gun – the huge 115mm U-5TS cannon was the first widely-used tank gun to use APFSDS ammunition, the deadly tank-killing ammo used by most nations' main battle tanks today. At the time, it was the most powerful tank gun in the world. The T-62s led the attack on the Israeli armor in both the Egyptian and Syrian armies.

We have the model available separately, but at a reduced price, they may also be bought in platoons of three vehicles or, reduced still further in price, in companies of ten vehicles.

Although the Yom Kippur War was to prove the war in which the T-62 saw the most action, the tank was deployed in large numbers with the Group of Soviet Forces Germany as the spearhead of any potential Soviet attack. Although it was eventually replaced by the T-72 and T-64, the tank would go on to see frequent action in combat, such as in the war in Afghanistan, in which it was the most commonly deployed tank. Even as late as the Russian intervention in Georgia in 2008 and the current civil war in Syria, the T-62 can be seen, barely modified from the vehicles that fought in the colossal battles in the desert in 1973.

It should be noted that the T-62 is the most widely-used tank in the current North Korean arsenal, with 1,000 unmodified tanks estimated, as well as a further 1,000 Chonma-ho (Pegasus), which are T-62s with some upgrades. As such, these are also perfect for use with our new range of 15mm modern North Koreans: http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/northkorean.html

Troop of Shewe painted this sample for us, in colours for the Syrian 1st Armoured Division in 1973. Of course, in Soviet/Russian or North Korean use, the tank would wear an overall coat of dark green.

Available now, here:

Look for the T-55 release soon!
