September 1939 - new ruleset and minis
« on: 11 October 2013, 10:07:31 PM »
A new upcoming release from Poland: a free ruleset called "Wrzesień 1939" (September 1939) accompanied by 20mm hard plastic vehicles and infantry, all scheduled for November 2013.

The rules are to be available as a free download (I don't know if there will be an English version - at first rather not), approximately company-scale, with platoons activated by cards. I've played an early version of these in June, it was quite easy and fun.

At first the minis will be available only with a magazine (with a new issue every 2 weeks), probably containing some painting & modeling tips and historical information - the whole project is very much aimed at beginners. Later, they might be sold separately.
The first issue will cost 10 PLN (about 3$) and will come with a model of the TKS tankette armed with a 20mm cannon.

The second and later issues will be twice that expensive - 20 PLN/6$. That'll probably be the cost of the boxed sets.

With the second issue will come a Panzer I Ausf. A:

The third and fourth models will be C2P artillery tractor and Panzerbefehlswagen I, respectively. Other planned releases are: Polish and German infantry (24 minis), Polish cavalry mounted and dismounted, TKS armed with an MG, 7TP light tank.

Even if it is not my scale I have to say it - we are in the golden age of miniatures...

Looking very nice.

Gracias,

The first model (TKS tankette) is set to be released on 15th November, but you can already read a review: http://miniwojna.blogspot.com/2013/11/prosto-z-pudeka-tankietka-tks-z.html

Agreed, those are truly beautiful miniatures.  :-*

While 20mm is not my scale, and English is my spoken language, I wish the venture great luck!

Hi there, my first post on the forum.....
Anyway... There was some additional information posted on FB today regarding future models in this series. PzKpfw I Ausf B, Kfz 13 Adler and TKS-3 were mentioned specifically as being close to the release.
If You have some other question - ask here please, I will try to answer them.

And for anyone interested in early war tanks in 1:72 scale - I will make another review of PzKpfw I Ausf. A in next few days. I already saw finished models and sprues and it looks really, really good I think.

Bought and built the TKS.

The casting is really nice, the details superb (much better than in Zvezda's fast build vehicles - although one has to remember they are 15mm, and the tankette is 20mm), though I'm worried that the rivets might disappear under the paint.

When it comes to building, some of the part are really flimsy and the way they're attached to the sprue is terrible. The barrel, shovel and the other tool (I've got no idea what that is) are attached in three places, so you've got to be especially careful when cleaning these parts - I broke the shovel twice! Gluing them onto the model also isn't easy... And one has to handle the finished tankette very delicately not to break the barrel.
Each track is attached to the sprue in 6 places and has further 4 plastic bits attached, and when you add the mold lines, that's a lot of cleaning! I understand all of this is done to avoid any damage to the parts, but I think it's unnecessary - parts from Zvezda's tanks are attached to the sprue in 1-3 places and I never got any of them damaged.

All in all, the model is really nice, but might be a bit too delicate for wargaming, especially if you're used to resin/metal models.

Really fine work on the rivets. They'll take a nice careful wash just fine.

I hope that PSC will help them make 15mm versions as well - would be fantastic to be able to buy Polish EW fighting vehicles in that scale for my own FoW collection.

While I'd love to see those minis in 15mm, I don't think it's likely to happen - the publisher seems to be very much influenced by two modelling/wargaming clubs in Warsaw, which are ancient (30-40 years old) and use 1/72 minis exclusively. Even showing them new rules (other than their own creations) is met with resistance.  :D

No chance for 15 mm scale for this models.:) Definitely.

You can read my inbox review of second model, Panzer I Ausf A on my blog though.
