Ruhr 1919
« on: 12 October 2013, 10:23:28 AM »
This time we decided to play a continuation of one of our past games. We used the "Setting The East Ablaze" rules. This time the Freikorps forces ware push back from fictious town of Rhineburg.
First game at this link:
http://asienieboje.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/ruhr-1919.html
and the second game:

Pictures from the first game:

and from the second:

We are going to play game No 3, but with the Bolt Action rules, just for compare with the StEA rules.

B.E.A.R. - I like them, but I need read them again, as I did not used them for a long period of time, so I forgot a lot of things, but it look like the rules working well, they are quick, easy to remember etc.
former user - If you can check the gallery on flickr, you can see the large resolutions pictures, where you will be able to see the details. Those pictures are low resolution, for easy opening.
marianes_gamer - Thank you very much. I fall in love to those Berlin buildings. They are amazing. Next time I will make more pictures of them. Imagine this, that they have interior as well - all painted. I dont remember who own this buildings and from where they come from, but I will ask next time for sure.

Thanks for the battle report.  Would be very interested in seeing more of your troops (and what were their sources - I recognized some of the Hinterland lassies in pickelhaubes).

B.E.A.R.  -  "Setting the East Ablaze" rules are based on Chris Peers "Contemptible Little Armies" rules which we liked a lot and used for many years.  If you liked CLA then you will like these.  If you did not like CLA then you might still like these are they are an improvement on the original - for a start they are presented in a logical order complete with an index and a playsheet.  They are still a bit brutal and the casualties are high but you do get a result even with a large number of units.  The rules are card driven which is useful in a multi-player game.

former user  -  I have checked my own photos and sadly none are good enough to post.  Will try to do better for game 3.

Franz Josef  -  Freikorps are mainly from Renegade except the Bavarians who are from Tsuba.  Red Militia and Volksmarine are from Scheltrum and Cannon Fodder.  You correctly identified my Hinterland WW1 Sturm-madchen and they were accompanied by a unit of Sailorettes and their supporting pom-pom gun.  Apologies to any purists who might be offended by seeing females in such an unlikely setting but the poor wee souls don't get much chance for an outing.  Indeed it was a first outing for the WW1 figures.
There were also three Scheltrum vehicles and one very small Erhardt A/C whose origin we are struggling to remember.

The buildings are Grand Manner I think, borrowed from another gamer.  They are astounding in their internal detail and I feel very fortunate to have been part of the game as it was everything that wargaming should be.  Good fun, fantastic terrain and a good laugh.  And flamethrowers to boot.  Can't go wrong with a flamethrower...

Great to see a game set in 1919 in the west :o
Always wanted to do the Spartacus Revolt in Berlin: P
This is fantastic and underlines the opportunities for campaigns aplenty during
the period

This time I made the pictures of all units involved, the link to the gallery is at the end of the relation.
