Which rules will you be using?

They initially started out with the intent of using GW Great War/Over the Top. I'm increasingly moving in the direction of using Through the Mud and Blood.

I'll probably end up using both.

Lovely.

I vote for a bit of grass here and there. 1918 Kaiser's Battle and onwards to the Armistice... Lots of fighting in open country. Slogging in the mud...? Not so much.  :)

No, I haven't - I thought they were WWII? Or are they easily adapted?

One other thing I didn't do, despite them being "Late War" German - no "tortoise camouflage" helmets. I don't know if I'll ever change this.

I wouldn't sweat it. I don't think it was anywhere near as common in the actual German army as it is in wargame armies.

I agree. They also tie the army to "late 1918," while if I leave them as-is I can use them for 1917 or the Spring Offensives without getting nit-picky and grouchy...

If you're thinking of adapting a set of WW2 skirmish rules, I think you'd do better with Rules of Engagement.

Awesome figures! One of these days I will get sucked into the WW1 Western Front, but not (quite...) yet!

If you're looking for a set of "big skirmish" rules, I highly recommend "Through the Mud & the Blood" by TooFatLardies. Why kludge with a WW2 ruleset when you can get something "native" to the period?
