Hero paint job : Dark Angel Hero

my most recently finished commission is the first of a group of dark angels i am working on.
 i am very proud of my first successful edging and i thought the guys and gals on here might apreciate a little look see.

Not a bad job.  Note a huge fan of the way the powersword came out.  Other than that, nicely done.

same, al;though i love the effect and i do think that it is one of the space marines more original weapons, i would have liked the sword to end up more forboding looking, it looks here a little bright and shiny and above all (matt) blocky. any advice on bringing out that shine or toning down the brightness (short of a varnish)

perhaps a dark blue wash? maybe a bad moon blue?

Erm...... highlights/linework is much too think mate. Two bits of advice: good brushes and thinned paint.  Will help no end.

Also thin your pva when basing gravel, you've missed quite a bit around the feet and always paint gravel/sand. Without paint it just looks like gravel on a toy soldier rather than a base for a wargaming model.
