Nicely done and very effective. I can recommend needlework roses for cabbages. They come in various sizes and are very cheap.

Yes they will sit snugly onto terrain mats.
Yes they are extremely frgile, but people shouldn't be playing with the stalks. If care is taken they should be fine.

Needle work roses... could I have more information please?

Probably the easiest way to explain this is to go to the Lard Island Blog and search for cabbages. This will take you to a terrain article by Rich. I already had some of these in my bits box but Rich got it out on the web first so he gets the plaudits.

They do come in various sizes. There are some which come with about an inch of wire attached and these are much smaller.

Beautiful work as ever Robin!  Oh and I love your latest French Generals on your blog....

I looked for needlework roses at my local haberdashers.....even the smallest were rather too large I fear for 15mm - unless you wanted them to be winning best in show....and I'm not sure your average east european peasant would.

However, although your cabbages are the correct size and look lovely I think I'd need a level of skill and patience to follow your lead.

Nice corn!  Have you mastered vineyards yet?

I haven't tried vines. I did think about them once for a 28 mm dio, but never even got as far as a prototype.
(I should really crack on I suppose, Radio 4 has just announced there's going to be a wine shortage!)
I've never seen any convincing ones in 15mm scale.
