Colin, they were basically fighting platforms and transports. Japanese naval warfare of the period was totally different from our own part of the world.
I haven't added the oars as I haven't got machine access and I'd need it to do them all properly.
Basically the ships would either keep at a distance shooting normal and fire arrows at each other until one side gave or they would plow together and duke it out hand to hand.
It was only when the foreign countries landed that the Japanese started to utilise our ship building techniques for their own use and even then they didn't really perfect it.
I suppose sailing has never been their strong point
