Crisis 2013 according to Pijlie
« on: 03 November 2013, 10:40:06 AM »
Yesterday, saturday November 2nd, I was once more privileged to visit the Walhalla of mainland European wargaming, Crisis in Antwerp. For the second time in Hangar 29 this proved to be a huge and roomy gathering of a LOT of wargamers and all things wargaming. Dozens of traders, games-to-look-at (not my favorite things) and games-to-play (that's more my COT!) and a million things to spend your meager cash on awaited me.

After parking our car on a parking lot looking suspicously like the 2nd Battle of Ypres after a vivid German bombardment (so better parking arrangements than last year, which were crap, but still somewhat improvised) we were greeted by the Tin Soldiers of Antwerp crews and the smell of hamburgers. As a matter of fact the entire Hangar 29 smelled of hamburgers. I like hamburgers, but it would have been….

It was great once again. Many purchases were made, ogling at eyecandy was done and old friends were run into. Another great Crisis this year. The parking lot was at least free this year (as opposed to last year, when it was almost completely occupied by scaffolding supporting an insanely large snowboard ramp  ::) ), but it was a mudfest.

And what was with that hamburger stand? Hall 1 (when coming back in) was completely covered in blue smoke! And since I was surviving on aspirin and cough sirup due to a lingering flu (which could NOT keep me away from the most anticipated gaming event of the year), I am now officially voiceless. No voice; it's gone! Completely. :-X

My wife likes the quiet though... lol

Now I've got to count up the left over funds (in silence), as my gaming buddy bought a Dropzone Commander starter box yesterday, and I'm expected to do the same soon, so we can swap models and each have a large army to drop onto the tablescape...  :D

+++EDIT+++ Almost forgot; many thanks to the boys and girls of TSA for not only making it happen, but for making it yet another succes!  8)

++RE-EDIT++ And can anyone please tell me where Otherworld were hiding? According to the list of vendors on the TSA site, they were supposed to be there, but they were not on the map and I also could not spot them, even after several circuits of the halls. Too bad, as I was prepared to do some serious money throwing at them... ::)

Super, thank you, I really hope I can come back and visit the show again soon!  New venue looks more roomy.

Out of context, this would be an unlikely sentence. :o

Sadly, it's the third year in a row that Otherworld has not shown up.

Otherworld had originally planned to be there, but sadly could not attend. They did let TSA know a few weeks ago though.

It was great fun.. i had hoped to have some more time to try out games and buy stuff (i got off with 4 second hand  WH units for my son - to get him started..) The time went with demoing and explaining the In Clouds of Glory WWI air combat game.
