Oakbound Games: Marsh Demons (WIP)
« on: November 13, 2013, 07:05:13 PM »
So today my Oakboound Marsh Demons turned up, and try as I might I just couldn't wait to bust them out and start putting them together. Now these are designed for a RPG style game called the Woods by Oakbound Games which is out soon. Their new Blog can be found here: http://thewoodsrpg.blogspot.co.uk/. They also happen to make great alternative Fimir for which will be my primary use for these one eyed Lizards

As you can see the Marsh Demons make great Fianna Fimm

Very much WIP, Weapons need some work and greenstuffing

As you can see they come without weapons but you can also buy a weapon pack add on (Which i have, but not used yet). I'm using a mix of Orc/Beastmen weapons.

More pictures of the others on my Blog: http://oldhammeronabudget.blogspot.co.uk/

I am amazed there has been no C&D yet.  They look great and near perfect shoe ins to the originals they are possibly based upon.

There based in part upon the Film Dark Crystal and for Oakbound Games own RPG game called The Woods. And while close to Fimir they are quite different.

No shop yet, it'll go live as far as i know sometime next year. You can find better pictures here: http://forum.oldhammer.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1155

So unless you been hiding in some dark and smelly place like France (Disclaimer: I love my Frenchies really :D ) then your'll know Oakbound Games has released some Marsh Demons and these are my first painted ones ( Better pictures when I get my new cam I promise).

These have been a joy to paint, even more so then the Citadel Fimir and Bloodmoon's Bog Raiders.

Club Tail Piper, Club Tail Champion, Tiarna

They're sweet. Never heard of Oakbound games but I'm about to google them and have a look. Painting looks pretty good. Can't wait to see some clearer pics.  :D

I recognise that minotaur axe head too. I've used it on one of my 40k Khorne heralds. Old GW troll body, swapped the stone axe head for that one and swapped troll head for a plastic juggernaut head.

Oakbound games are rather new and not many out of the Oldhammer scene know much about them. They planning to release there RPG game The Woods next year and the Marsh Demons are the first race to get finished and in production.

(The question marked figure is a limited edition kept secret and is free when you spend £25)

They look like one to watch. That bottom figure might fit in well with the gazillion and one Fallout projects (including my own :-*) over on the Post Apocalyptic Adventures board too.  :D

My first thought too, doomsdave.
Not sure if I actually like these not-fimir. I can't quite see but the sculpting doesn't look great from the few pics I've seen. Strange posing. Especially on that last one, static.

These are quite hunched over but that lends itself to the Dark Crystal feel. The Sculpting is quite good but there is room for improvement (Some detail is soft and a bit of putty work is need on joins). Over all they are well worth the low cost and are rather enjoyable.
