New WW2 AFV/Softskin vehicle Releases
« on: May 29, 2008, 02:45:28 AM »
Hi Folks,

I intend to start a new sticky on the above topic featuring 1/56th scale AFVs/Softskin vehicles.

Please feel free to add any new releases covering AFVs and Softskin vehicles to this sticky.

A separate sticky for 28 mm WW 2 figures/artillery/other new releases will be created in due course.

To start our new topic off we have upcoming releases from AGN. A few sample pics are included: To quote from the AGN Yahoo site and my thanks to the guys:

Quote "I have posted a new album in the Group's "Photos" section (on the
second page of albums) showing AGNM's new SU-76 self-propelled gun.

It is priced at US$30 and is supplied with a robust, all-metal gun (as
evident in the photos). It is fully available for sale now although it
hasn't yet been added to our current web page (that will soon be
updated to show all of our new vehicles, guns and crews).

"A wartime expedient, there were few comforts for the crew and it was
known to troops as 'The B*tch'. The first SU-76s appeared in late 1942
and by mid-1943 they were deployed in appreciable numbers. Better
German armour had by this time [reduced its effectiveness] and thus the
vehicle's role was changed from anti-tank to infantry support."

Enjoy!
Andy" Unquote

Quote "I have posted another new photo album on the Group's "Photos"
section, on the second page, showing photos of AGNM's new Soviet T-28
medium tank.

I will be making the production mold for it next week and so it
should be fully available for purchase within two weeks, priced at
US$40. (And it will be added to our updated web site along with all
of our other new and classic vehicles, guns and gun crews.)

"Inspired by British and German tank designs, the T-28 medium tank
had a centrally mounted main turret and two auxilliary machine-gun
turrets in front... production models were equipped with the more
powerful 76.2mm low-velocity gun."

Crewed by six and armed with a main gun and three 7.62mm machine
guns, all evident in the photos.

I'll inform everyone when it's fully available for sale, that should
be shortly.

[Quote taken from "Fighting Vehicles of the World".]

Bye,
Andy" Unquote

www.chieftainmodels.co.uk

More vehicles than you can shake a stick at, with at least another 5 or 6 on the way, including a STuG 3G , Panzer 38t, and more nice softskins too.

Check out the gallery section.
Then go have a look at the T28, the SAS jeeps, the LRDG chevys, in fact, just look at everything, because its all brilliant.

Amazing models,  easy to build, with a host of extra bobbins included.
Plus built in bases,so you have the choice, whether to base the model, or not.

Go on buy something, you won't be disappointed :D :D :D :D :D :D

Crouchie just does not promote his stuff enough

I always wondered what 'hetzer' means. Marder is marten, isn't it?

"Hetzen" is a word for hunting. Especially meant to run the prey to the ground. Why the Hetzer-tank is actually called that I'm not sure as it would probably be more used in ambush situations.

I think they usually translate Hetzer as 'Baiter'.

A Marder is a mischievous little creature that likes to chew up car cabling. So yes, I assume marten is correct.

The "Hetzer", as Doomhippie said, derived the name from the hunting. In a looser sense, you could translate the verb "hetzen" as "pursue someone relentlessly at a high speed (and, possibly, untiring perseverance)".

Hetzjagd is a translation of coursing, a foxhound is a Hetzer

Hi everyone, My first post on this forum.  Thought I'd share a couple pics of some WW2 vehicles.  Here's the new JTFM M3 White Scout Car with a modified Soviet crew by Battle Honors:

JTFM have a done an amazing job casting this beauty.  I believe there is a crew being designed presently - which will be available soon-ish.

My Soviets needed some transport so I did a bit of research and found that FOA made a Russian GAZ AAA in resin, but sadly they provided no pictures. So I bought one to inspect and thought I'd share it with others. Nice clean model and simple to assemble with about 10 parts.  It measures somewhere between 1/56th and 1/60th (95mm L x 38mm W).  The infantry rider is by BAM for comparison.
