Thanks for the appreciation my friends.
No more havanitos for the moment, but i really finished the two buildings. Well, the small one was done already, but i've taken some better photos:

Well, with a small building i can use my usual photo setup. The bigger building was more a problem to photograph, i should try again tomorrow morning. Meanwhile:

That's all for now, I'll try to use my aerograph to make it look at its best!

Cheers
Jack

EDIT: Forgot to say, all the resin you see on the model is sculpted and casted by myself, and available for anyone interested. I never had the time to sort out my "catalogue", mainly because i don't want casting to become my main hobby-business. I should do it, probably, one day.

By the way, the first 5 figures are done: the lone rangers!

5?

So they're the famous "not-so-lonely" rangers!! lol lol

Anyway, great painting, and great buildings!!
Don't you carve the orizontal planks on the walls, so tipical of Western buildings?

Horizontal planks? What do you mean? Do you have picture references?

I think he's referring to something like this:

Neither is more common than the other, you will find examples of both in most western towns. The difference is that vertical planks require a "batten" that covers the gap between the vertical planks. Horizontal planks don't need this as each plank overlaps the one beneath it. I suppose because of that there may be a geographical distribution with horizontal planks more common in cold climates.

Here is a building with vertical planks that has the gaps covered with a "batten"

Farther south they may not even bother with the battens but it would make for a very drafty building.

Ok, thanks for the info. The main reason for my choice was that it was faster. I had to make a compromise between realism and speed, and that seemed reasonable.
If I had to make masters for a company i would certainly use one of the two styles above! ;)
But, of course, i wouldn't use resin flat windows as well.

Some updates, the bandidos:

And a slightly retouched version of the almost-lone rangers:

i love painting 15mm. Fast, considering my standards. And those Blue Moon cowboys are just sweet!

Wonderful thread. I think I own cowboys in about three different scales. Haven't painted my 15mm's yet. But your progress is inspiring me to.  :D

The buildings are great. If its the final colour you're not happy with try to edge more towards a grey colour as many of these old wooden structures ended up very weather beaten and worn. You seem to have gone for a yellowy highlight which makes them look a little 'bright' in my opinion.

Actually, what doesn't satisfy me is the thinning of the paint itself. The color is spread irregularly, and i can't have a smooth finish.

For the yellowish, you're perfectly right. At the mmoment i just put something on those buildings, i'll probably re-base all in brown tomorrow.

thanks for the encouragement!

thanks! Somehow the red flat color removed some depth from the mexicans, and the wide hat obscured the faces (with HUGE mustaches)!
Now i've to finish to paint the houses! I'll have to use airbrush again!

That what they were meant to be!
