Both links are fascinating, those Yugoslavian War memorials jump from the most horrible modernistic crap to some really interesting pieces.
The other site is just fascinating. The two photos that really drew my attention were the sunken yacht in the Antartic just for how unusual it was and the hotel in Colombia, which came straight out of a gothic horror story.
Thanks for posting the links.

I really like the war monuments/memorials. Even though they are old they still feel futuristic to me.

Thanks for the links

Imagine how much fun that sled track would be for the local kids. Beats racing dilly carts down the high street anyday!

I went to Bunker 42, the old air defense bunker for the USSR in Moscow.  It's about 60 meters under the city and partially flooded.  But they still have a club and working tours.

Cool site.
Just had a quick look. Love the Dadipark entry (went there a couple of times as a kid), but what really baffled me was the Hélène des Champs Lingerie entry.

The Hotel El Salto isn't abanoned anymore. It has been renovated and is now home to a museum.

They should add the Terra Encantada theme park in Rio de Janeiro, that really is quite spooky. Closed after someone was killed on one of the rides there a few years ago.

The Colombian hotel and the Taiwanese city were my favourites. I did like that tower with the tree growing out of the top too.  lol

I've just emailed myself that link. Tomorrow I'm going to get my class to do some really interesting writing using those awesome visuals. Big focus on setting the scene.

the amount of dead fun parks was all a bit freaky. I guess they are high risk ventures and fail more than other things.

Japan had a mini-boom in amusement parks in the 80s and 90s - when the economy crashed, they were left to rot.

I love the Colombian hotel, but they're ALL amazing.

The hospital I used to work in had a whole abandoned wing that was sealed up and left because it was full of asbestos.  Before it was finally demolished a couple of years ago, it was a favourite for urban explorers.  Really freaky, the amount of old equipment left lying there.  And we used to do a ton of exploring in old mines when I was a geology student (yeah, I know, stupid as shit).

Great links Zizi!

We used to do the same thing as geology students.  As a result of a few close calls the sound of groaning timbers scares me more than anything else.

Never seen that Kalavantin Durg. A Google image search gave some great blog sites where people had visited it.

Gave it a go today. Kids were enthralled by the pictures. Got some really good writing out of them, they had to read out there piece and others tried to guess which picture they were describing.
