Wargames Factory are having a 25% off sale

I was going to pick up some more Samurai Cavalry and Ashigaru from them but shipping to the UK makes them more than full price again. Aww well.

Anyone know any Uk based Samurai discounts?

Not minis-related, but DriveThruRPG are selling the rather spiffy Runequest 6 for $4.99 USD (about three quid) as well as a ton of other stuff.  Today only (Friday 29th November).

Not even Black Friday related, but the Bundle of Holding site has some nice indie-style RPGs including Dungeon World and Saga of the Icelanders.   The offer runs for a few more days.

Their foot samurai are a bit naff but the ashigaru are decent and the Cavalry are good if you ignore the horse heads.

But yeah shipping for 2 boxes was about $22

A discount on stuff I already planned to buy in 2014 is still a discount.

This is the first time (via computer buying I assure you) that "Black Friday" made any sense to me...

Gracias,

and Feliz Navidad,

Glenn

Its still a load of marketing bollax, though..... :D

It will soon be as annoying as 'touching base' and 'blue sky thinking', both of which are used regularly by the twats in the marketing department at my place of work... ....the only problem is: Other people are starting to use these stupid expressions too..... >:(

I find it a bit annoying that every single online retailer that has my email address has started bombarding me with this Black Friday stuff without the slightest explanation as to what it means. And most baffling of all, most of them are UK-based. It seems like it is a thing they have decided to push on us and force into the culture with a crowbar, so we will spend more money. I guess they expect that if they just do it every year we will soon forget that we don't know what it is, where it came from, or why it is happening, and we'll just happily go along with it. I expect they are right. Halloween and "Trick or Treat" has gone from virtual non-existence to a major inconvenience in just a few short years, after all.

Well said Plynkes.
Annoying shits, crassly attempting to impose their blatant commercial calendarisation on the rest of us... Well I for one do not recognise 'black friday' nor will i have anything to do with it. No, not even if it saves me money. I'd rather die in a dirty ditch than slavishly follow the diktats of the retail sector. So there.
God that felt good.

LoL.

I've had about six more Black Friday emails since I posted earlier today. All from British websites, and some from the same ones who had already sent emails about it. Man, they are really going for this shit.

Oh, and the BBC news have noticed and all. They mentioned it too. So that's it then. It's a thing now. Nothing we can do about it.

Evening news American highlights:
One cop injured, one shoplifter shot by a cop, and a shopper shot by a thief. Lots of pushing, shoving, and fighting. Black Friday remains a horrible event.
I stayed home today, took my dog for a walk, and painted five pieces of terrain.  :)

The term Black Friday originally comes from the finacial markets here in the US. It is when (because of the rush of sales at the begining of the Christmas shopping season) that brick & morter retailers are supposed to finally be in the black for the year.
