Back To Rome
« on: June 01, 2008, 02:50:49 PM »
After not doing any of my Romans last month, I decided to get on with another unit in May. Twelve Foundry Early Imperial Romans including command (I'll probably add a few more legionnaires at a later stage) Shield transfers from the wonderful Little Big Man Studios

Great job as always. I am always envious of people who can knock out units of identical figures for big battles.

How long does it take you to do one figure for a unit like this? Its something I'm trying to work on, so am interested to know.

I think the secret is don't work on single figures but work on a unit at a time. With these I did all of the same colour across all the legionnaires and worked on them that way. The only figures I did separate were the two command ones.

Time wise from start to finish, including basing & shields, I'd say about 6 hours or so

Thanks for that.  :)

I've tried the block painting thing, I just still can't seem to get my head round it. Even if I do as you suggest, I still take ages and end up getting bored after the first four or so minis.

I am exactly the same as you. I start with all good intention then slowly get drawn into completing one of the figures on the production line.

Auton - very nice, looking good. :)

Very nice indeed. The flesh tones are excellent. Like others I admire the ability to paint units, but sadlly with an attention span of a distracted butterfly ...
