Pulp Fezember Challenge ! ! !
« on: 05 December 2013, 09:25:26 AM »
I dare all of you to post an answer here when you have changed your avatar to a mugshot of yourself wearing a fez for the rest of the month  :D.

Also, pictures of painted minis wearing fezzes are very welcome.

Mad Lord Snapcase already changed his - so let's make a party of it!  ;D

The winner can chose a pack of Bob Murch's Pulp Figures that I'll donate and get send to his (her?) home address.
Competition runs until Fezember 31st 23:59 CET.
_________________________
Second post:

As I'm in a good Fezember mood, I up the ante:

Everyone posing in his (her?) profile wearing a fez can participate in a competition to post the most painted minis wearing fezzes:
_________________________
Latest rules:

•Avatar of yourself wearing a fez: 5 points
•Your current (or any other) avatar modified to wear a Fez (or already wearing one): 4 points.

Participants meeting one of the above conditions:
•Every painted mini you post wearing a fez: 1 point for the first, 2 for the next (for a total of 3), 3 for the third (for a total of 6)... +1 for every one posted thereafter. Painted minis will be the key to winning this, as is only fitting for LAF
•Screenshot  posted of friends/family members sporting a fez on their signature/profile photo on any social media: 5 points each

The winner will be the one with the most points accumulated at the end of the challenge (New Year, my time).
In the case of a tie, I shall present a challenge for the top ranking participants, and if I feel like it (depends on the success of this event), I may add to the prize and/or present additional prizes for the runner(s) up.

Rules of Engagement:
•I expect all participants to record a tally of their accumulated scored points every time they post something - for me to use as reference when checking who has won.
•Allthough this is not cricket, I also expect the usual level of sportsmanship and fairness, particulairly when bending the rules  ;)
•Lastly: These rules are subject, maybe not to change as such, but to development, as this is the first time I run this lighthearted challenge. Suggestions as to how to make it more fun for everyone are welcome.

Well I don't own a fez, so I thought I'd doctor my avatar for you. Unfortunately LAF won't let me upload it for some reason. Says it is too big, when the file size is actually smaller than the original, and the same size as far as dimensions go.

But anyway, here's what it would have looked like:

As Argonor has said it's FEZEMBER, but for the moment I'm keeping my MOVEMBER as well, although the wife's not too keen on it!

BTW, joroas, that's a fantastic collection of fezzes (is that the correct plural?), I especially like the one with the umbrella. Is that the one from West Wind?

I guess you're a guy, so... please, yes...  lol

Heheh... I don't know where in the UK you live, but I know for a fact that Malamute owns a fez, so maybe you could borrow his? If you do, and make him join the fray, too, I'll give you both a +5 count (otherwise I'll just let the current one count at -1 point (see below) - I'll be making up strange rules for this as we go along - all in the spirit of Christmas and Fezember sillyness - just think of this as the Tardis  ;) )

I am augmenting the rules:

  • Avatar of yourself wearing a fez: 5 points
  • Your current (or any other) avatar modified to wear a Fez (or already wearing one): 4 points.

Participants meeting one of the above conditions:
  • Every painted mini you post wearing a fez: 1 point for the first, 2 for the next, 4 for the third... doubling for every one posted thereafter. Painted minis will be the key to winning this, as is only fitting for LAF

I'll add this to the original post, too, in a minute.

I'm breaking the rules ... but a fezzer I fondly remember

I went to a fortune teller and she looked at my hands.
She said, 'Your future looks pretty black.'
I said, 'Are you kidding? I've still got my gloves on!

Two cannibals were eating a clown – one said to the other, 'Does he taste funny to you?'

I said to the chef, 'Why have you got your hand in the alphabet soup?' He said, 'I'm groping for words!'
No dear, they are not toys, they are models

My normal Fez avatar is my original Cthulhu Fez.  But as it's Krampusnacht, I will change to my more festive fez.
Painted:  2025:539; 2024: 410; 2023: 37; 2022: 56

My painted miniaturere avatar I changed some time a go to a chechia bearer, and I do intend to eventually have some fez wearing troops, but not for the moment I'm afraid.
But to stand a chance against the ones with massive Askari, Ottoman or French colonial or ACW zouave forces?....

how is it with Fez variations and those miniatures that wrap a turban around it?

I may initiate a Fezbruary challenge, too, as I have birthday in that month.

In the meantime, I think I had had too much irish coffee when writing the rule about points for miniatures; I think the points should be: 1 for the first, 2 for the second, 3 for the third, and so on (cumulatively, so 3 minis would be 6 points). I'll correct this right away!

I think the scoring should be 1 for the money, 2 for the show, 3 to get ready, and go cat go.

I'll add bonus points for a bubba wearing a fez and blue suede shoes!  lol
