First X-Wing repaints

So here is my first repaint: Luke’s X-Wing and an after market E-Wing (Shapeway design by Gosric).

As a result, many pilots continued to fly upgraded versions of the venerable X-wing.”


The X-Wing was painted on top of the already fine pre paint. The E-Wing was harder! The model design is absolute superb. However, the material Shapeways is still using is BAD. It is soft, seems to soak up the colour and has a lot of rough spots, and that using the Frosted Ultra Detail material. However the overall result after being painted is still OK IMO.

The temptation of the Dark Side...


Two Ties and one Tie Interceptor, nothing fancy here, just clean repaints.

Gorgeous stuff.  Yeah, the Shapeways stuff is still tough to work with (and I only had one in much larger scale).  Overall, typically gorgeous paintwork though.

So, how do you play it? With a curl? 'When it was good, it was very good indeed. When it was bad, it was horrid'?

I made some decals to convert my Tie fighters to the rebel alliance.  Now I'm inspired to finish them up!

I will use it like a Rookie X-Wing - simple stand in.
But there are many fan made stats for the E-Wing around!
