Medieval Siege Assault Ideas
« on: 14 December 2013, 12:53:36 PM »
I'm just beginning to think about a participation game to take around the shows next year. Concept is a siege of a city or castle at the point that their is a breach / siege towers against the walls. each player leading a siege towers worth of troops, with maybe defenders programmed by GM.

Can any one suggest a short list of sieges of castles or cities that actually came to a resisted assault? Something 11th - 13th century so I can use Fireforge plastics would be ideal?

Montsegur etc would come in at the end of your timeframe.
Measure with a micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with an axe, hammer to fit, paint to match!

Constantinople 1204?
You could have the players as competing Frankish/Venetian lords all wanting to be the first in.

Thank you so much for your assistance. I'd like to do crusades eventually but am waiting for Fireforge or some one else to do plastic Saracens etc. Rochestet or Constantinople sound interesting.
Cheers,
Chris

The siege or battle for Lincoln Castle in 1217 might produce a good but short game unless played in real time. The actual siege/battle is thought to have only lasted around 6 hours and turned into a running skirmish and included crossbow men taking to roof tops as part of the assault. Forces are not that large and elements of roleplay could be added into it :)

Acre 1291 inc various wall breaches and sorties out, lots of scope there.  :)
