Loor auxiliary scout - A Small Christmas Review/Project

So...while everyone at my house is cooking I've decided to work on one of the excellent Loor aliens, created by PF. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's the link to his thread:

PF was kind enough to send me 2 of his sculpts and after some thought I've decided to work on the Loor Scout:



The casting of the figure is very, very good, with only a couple of mould lines to clean. I'll do that and prime it, then I'll post some pictures (as soon as the paint dries and I charge the batteries for my camera)

So...after priming it with my trusty Tamiya Primer, I've noticed that I did a lousy job cleaning the mould lines (I completely forgot about the ones on the gun):





I'm not aiming to win any contest and I'm not a great painter so I thought "what the hell...let's start painting". My idea is to do something similar to this:



But I'm not that good a painter, so here's what I did so far:







The next step is to daub some black and darker green paint in a piece of foam and do some spots all over the body of the Loor, like the lizard above.

My first try would be a dark brown, burnt umbre like. To contrast with the bright greens.

I really love PFs work, and am not at all jealous of you managing to get your hands on one of his minis.

well, apparently the Loor prefer to go naked...

sothern african Khoe-San and australian Aboriginals would wear bright greenish attire....

no, I would go for something more realistic along the environment of their home maybe - since they are meant to be "scouts"?
lighter earth-tones?
or surplus military attire from the army they are meant to serve in?
Khaki webbing? camo paint on the weapons?
or finally, something "ethno-style" emulating their own cultural expression?
painted leather? body paint?

Yeah, khaki could definitely do the job.

I've a question about PF: most of his 15mm minins are awesome, but i really can't find most of them around: where are them sold?

Beautiful beginning. Sometimes it can be daunting to start painting a top quality figure.

But like renaissance masters (who woud paint over their work) you can dip that miniature in a solvent and start again. That is not needed here as you've shown no fear. Nice one.

Didn't work on the miniatures today - I'm still reeling from all the Christmas food I ate, . But until the end of the year I'll have it done. Things to do:

- give all the lines a green wash, to represent the reptilian scales more accurately.
- paint the pouches/belts in a khaki/red color
- remove the mold lines from the gun 
- take comparison pics with other figures

And I have to thank PF once again for the gift. I can only hope he starts to sell them soon!
