I've always thought they looked really cool.  But I've always wonder just how transportable they are...  Seems like the paint would come off eventually.

The painting instructions point out that you needed prime it and that you should avoid using a lot of paint. Their own instructions use stippling and drybrushing

Once it is sealed I imagine that the paint won't go anywhere as long as there wasn't an excess of it on the mat.

Most non-fabric game mats eventually wear out though and this has the benefit of being repaintable afterwards :-)

Has anyone in the UK [or mainland Europe] ordered any of these?

I'm quite intrigued by these and with the right paint job, the "scourged forest" looks ideal for Darkest Africa, but it would depend on shipping costs.
