28mm 105mm Artillery Shells ?
« on: January 09, 2014, 08:07:18 PM »
Can anyone point me in the direction of a manufacturer of resin/metal 105mm Artillery shells, casings and ammo boxes that I can use with a US Howitzer in a small diorama please (preferably in the UK)

Regards

Tamiya produce a range of shells (search Tamiya Projectile on google), though in 1/35 scale, which from my experience the most common scale for loose shells. Verlinden Productions make 105mm shells, but again in 1/35. More from AFV Club too, as do MiniMali make ones in 1/48. Which is to say that as far as historical miniature kits go 1/35 is used more than 1/56 for diorama pieces evidently, and so such detail pieces aren't so common in the latter. =/

This is probably the easiest thing to scratchbuild:  get yourself a foot of 2mm styrene rod (or brass) and cut a whole bunch of pieces 1cm long, paint a brassy gold color

Wyrmalla - I'd wondered about Verlinden but hadnt yet googled to see if he produced them in 1/48
Johnnytodd - I've already started cutting brass tubing & plastic rod as an expriment but its the actual shell thats going to be the tough one to make.
