Note this has nothing to do with Mike's stuff anybody skimming the thread...

Their website should be going live with the first available sculpts this month apparently.
Here you go, this is the final art, they haven't done a sculpt yet but the other sculpts they've done look a lot like the art.

Glad to see they're starting to become available. Some of Mike's best work imo

What? Your not supposed to add to large ranges you haven't begun painting? No way!  lol

:)

My current rule (which I break for releases that are soon to disappear, or for really good sales, or for Hinterland upon any release) is that I don't buy new figures of a manufacturer from whom I still have unpainted figures. I think I only have one unpainted Artizan figure, so these could be on the way to me as soon as they're released as long as I get him done :) The result is that I have a huge breadth of manufacturers in my collection.

If I follow that rule diligently in the future I won't be able to buy any new Copplestone or Foundry for decades...

I'm not on Facebook, so I can't see the link, but that picture doesn't look anything at all the kind of figs that I was talking about based on the one you posted. Thanks for the heads up, however.

Heh. I don't have all of the Copplestone lines but what I buy, I have them all. I love his style.  Foundry, I binge purchase lines.  Probably half my hoard is Foundry pirates, victoriana and darkest africa (thanks to your inspirational work) .

These Mike Owens sculpts are really nice. I would definitely add them to my Victorian collection.

What we really need though are some decent Vampire sculpts (probably of my own design ;)) Have a word with Mike and see if he has any scheduled. Otherwise I shall have to consider it. :)

Nope, no Vampires. It's not going to be your traditional Gothic Horror range, so no zombies, werewolves or Frankenstein's monster either. The bad things/creatures are all demonic possession type affairs and the bad people are of course people. Looks like there are some Mars service troops too though (hence my comment about Scarlet Traces).

General gist (as I understand it) is along the lines that after the Martian Invasion of Earth, the Empire launches strikes against Mars. The best and brightest are all involved with the attack of Mars, leaving the corrupt, the villainous and the destitute to eke a living in the remains back home. Most of them are surviving underground, organised crime is not unusual and demonic pacts have become possible to claw for power.

Sounds like cool stuff.....so when's the hell they coming? I need to add to the lead mountain!
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

Good question :)
I got the impression these would be out soon but it's unknown when any more are getting done as it's Mike's 'whimsy' range that he's doing because he wants to. They've had some minor tweaks since the initial casts that Dags painted, no longer on slotta tabs, slight change to hat etc. A few of figures have been added and a couple have been dropped.

I suspect it'll come down to how well received they are. If people praise them and the initial release sells well then Mike will be encouraged and do more. If they don't sell that well then his interest will probably dry up and we won't get any more. Let's be honest, we've seen it happen often enough with various ranges that are out there.

Well lets hope so, plenty of other uses than that intended too, not been on dreadful slotta bases is another plus for me >:D

Indeed, I love the light sourcing on that scarf, excellent work Cubs!

Cheers! I must admit that OSL is out of my comfort zone, but I had to have a crack at it with the guy holding a big fireball.

Having painted the models, here's what I reckon they each are (left to right) -

1. Looks like he's based on 'Monk' McGinn from 'Gangs of New York', with his notched club.

2. Gotta be the Artful Dodger.

3. Demon-possessed corpse, with a 'human' mask. Very disturbing.

4. Smog monster - it's got leaves sculpted into the swirling base.

5. Again, must be Bill the Butcher from 'Gangs of New York'.

6. General henchman or street thug.

7. Magician ... well dur.

The models come with a normal moulded base, so I clipped them off and pinned them to some cobbled bases I made - http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=61341.0

The bases were painted a mid grey, with a couple of cobbles picked out in different brown or grey shades. Then it all got dirtied up with dark washes, some dried leaves, trodden-in horse poo and tinting powder after varnishing. The horse poo was made by mixing yellow static grass into a stiff paste with wood glue, which was pulled into little bits and glued to the base. When dry it got a good going-over with brown ink - really simple but really effective for that filthy Victorian street effect.
