Fritzy and PM Ironclad Steam Tanks- A Joint effort!
« on: 09 June 2008, 05:37:12 PM »
On an earlier post I put up some pics a steam tank I was doing for Fritzy.
He sat through most of the process ( a bit of a 1 to 1 tutorial of sorts) and kept me supplied with tea.
Any how I've completed the larger tank ( complete with new commander from IronClad minis ) and Fritzy's completed a matching Tankette.
I think they match up pretty well considering we used totally different paint manufacturers!

Fritzy's Tankette ( Ain't it cute!!!)

Don't quote me, but I do believe it is the FIRST mini that Fritzy has ever painted from start to finish!

Regards
PM

Splendid stuff indeed Sir. Hard to tell them apart. :)

Jolly good show chaps! Marvelous work!

However I should point out that the Brigadier is coming by for an inspection later this week. I expect those tanks to be cleaned up and sparkling for when he arrives or they'll be hell to pay!
So many projects..... so little time.......

Very nice work.  Comparing the two I would have to say that Fritzy's is perhaps a trifle less subtle.  But I'd never realize this if I weren't looking for it.  There's something to be said for being able to match someone else's style and technique.  Good job Fritzy.

Hi,
This was all down to the expert teachings PM gave. Yes, I have to admit this is the first to get to the varnish stage, I usually get sidetracked, lost, bored etc.
When we started I said I wanted the tanks to be coloured along the lines of the tea stained pith helmets. I think PM got it really close. Then I went home and tried to do the same with different colours.
I can't give my mate PM enough credit for all the help and encouragement and time and patience (with an awkward student), he has given me.
Plus thanks for all the great comments you all give, it all gives alot of encouragement to a newcommer to painting, properly. lol

Cheers

Fritzy

Fritzy,

Credit where credit is due old chap. You have done a cracking job. :)

Great work, Fritzy   ;D

The only real difference I can see is that PM's smokestack weathering is a little more subtle. Lord knows it's hard to do really well, so you're well on the way already. Again, as with the Police tankette, I'm not criticizing your model, as I think it looks superb, just offering some constructive words.

By the way, it seems to me that the part of the track that comes into contact with the ground would be more likely to be bare and shiny metal than to be rusted metal, don't ya think?
