Hi Bullshot,

I do not know the size of your warrior miniatures, but I would like to draw your attention to a couple more latest releases that might of interest to you:
1.- Bashi-Bouzouks release of tiger miniatures &
2.- Bash-bouzouks fro Perry's

Both look very promising!

I second the idea of using the Perry bashis for core troops. Have a look:

Good to have normal core troops...makes the over the top stuff seem more believable...

If the Tiger ones are going to be to big this will not be a very good suggestion but I think I would try to work in some Janissaries for a splash of colour. The Assault Group ones are my favourites by far but how about the Dixon ones?

I finally finnished my steam horse conversion. The before-conversion horse came from the GW plastic Empire Knights box. The rider from a friend's lead mountain:

The steam horse was a bit of an experiment for me. I wasn't sure how it would come out, but I'm quite pleased with the result. Now that I have this one finished I will be looking at making a few more.  I'm considering the possibilities of using them for towing Victorian carriages and wagons (in a similar manner to PM's excellent offering) and as mounts for Prussian officers.

It'll be good to see this army complete and 'in the field'. Will you be working out stats in Gaslight?

What about some scouts on flying carpets? Or heavy duty flying carpets carrying some sort of ordinance. What to innocent eyes looks like a vacuum cleaner turns out to be an aerial harpoon! Always thought those Dysons had a VSF look about them...

Excellent stuff!

Very nicely done. The legs look very good.

I've toyed with something similar and was considering having multiple vents for the steam at not only the tail but the ears and nose as well. Obviously they would have to be aligned to release steam to the sides so as not to interfere with the rider.

After I have fought my first game with them (which will not be until I have a suitable steamtech vehicle) I will publish a stats sheet.

For flyers I like the idea of flying dhow of some sort, although the flying carpet concept is tempting. I am also still looking for the perfect toy/model/ornament to base my steam elephant on, so if anyone can suggest a suitable item to base it on I would be grateful.

That's the thing keeping me from a project like this. Ever since I saw "The Sultan's Elephant" I've wanted to do a model of it in 28mm but the only thing I found that seemed worthy was the LoTR's Mumak. Eventually I'll give it a go but not until I get one on the cheap.

Try this link:

Also Google for "The Sultan's Elephant" for more links.

As Skrapwelder said, the only model approaching this in size is GW's Mumak. However, something a little bit smaller in Resin would be nice (maybe with an enclosed armoured howdah in the Mughal style).... ;)

Actually, for more from the creators of the Sultan's Elephant, you might want to visit Nantes.

I certainly wish I could!

Would something like this toy not work as a base for a mechanical elephant?
