The Battle of Beggar's Mesa: A Station 42 War battle report!
« on: January 19, 2014, 12:22:44 PM »

We just finished a 2160 point No Limits battle for our Station 42 War between the Hell Knights Mercenary Company and the Wolfhound Friekorps who were working for the Titania rebels.  It was a pretty intense six turn battle of tank on tank, mercenary on mercenary action!
Check it out on my blog: http://ironworkersminiatures.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-battle-of-beggars-mesa-2160-point.html

A few more pics:

Fantastic...

I am looking through your blog for more background on the combatants.

Great scratchbuilds and mods!

Great stuff. I had a look through your blog also - very nice.

I particularly like the "tracked APC". I assume that is the one your wife built from a Patton tank. If you get the chance a photo of that one would be great!

Good work.

Thanks!  I'll see what I can't do about getting a better pic of that APC soon.

Poor Station 42. They've certainly seen their share of bloodshed in the last few years! S&W and their damned mercenaries! The abused and displaced 42vian farmers just want to take care of their crops!

What is the fig you're using for the Hell Knights commander in the battle suit? He looks quite burly! This one here: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Z6SirIMCFJ8/UbjV0SF285I/AAAAAAAADH8/Ux-8hl1zJHs/s1600/checkpoint_aar_4.jpg

Did all of this grow out of an RPG game? Quite impressive.

I didn't exactly grow out of an RPG.  We wanted to make the Station as terrain set we could use for several different games.  Then we started coming up with some specific stories and our Solar Empires setting grew out of that. http://ironworkersminiatures.blogspot.com/p/solarempires-nathan-miller-2013.html
Those "Battle Suit" guys are actually cheap toys I picked up at Dollar General.  They come in three packs for $6 and they are somewhat pose-able.  I think they are called M.A.R.S. robots or something like that.

Here is another group.  They have some down sides.  You have to use flat Krylon fusion paints to prime them and you can't seal them or they will off gas.  they do take washes okay but I have to handle them carefully.  Still at that price they work nicely.  I'm about to add more of them to various forces.
