Dettol, sort of toxic stuff. Gloves and mask first order of business.

Plastic, resin, or metal figures?

Fairly universal cleaner that is easy on the human:  warm soapy water, rinse, rinse.

Luck!

Dettol Pine Disinfectant or Lidl do an own-brand version too which is much cheaper.

Basically it needs to contain isopropyl and pine oil, which combine to act as a paint-stripper. I swear by the stuff

The stuff is very unhealthy. I always recommend against using it.

I think there might be a bit of confusion here.

If you need to strip paint, then you may want to use it. But to clean new figures which have never been painted, you can normally just use soap & water.

Dettol works on plastics mate (although it will soften glue, something to bear in mind if they're multi-part). I've never left mine in more than 3 days max but some people say it's fine to leave them longer.

One slightly annoying thing is the models (metal and plastic) can come out a little sticky afterwards, but hot water and soap seems to do the trick.

I've used dettol for stripping but wasn't really satisfied with the process and results. Fairy power spray, poured into a jar, works much better for me.

For cleaning, yeah, soap and water. :D
