Hi all,
after some lurking around I decided to register and join the Lead Adventure community. I was looking for an English speaking forum in addition to the German speaking ones I am active in (Sweetwater and Tinysoldiers) given my new place of residence is New Zealand and there might be some blokes around in this forum. Apart from that it is always good to have a look around and come across cool projects and inspirations.
I started out with a Warhammer 3ed box, painted the miniatures over and over again as they never looked like the ones in the rulebook and finally got rid of the game wihtout playing it in the end. Nevertheless, I loved reading the fluff book over and over, never getting enough of the miniatures presented. In some point I came across a Rackham catalogue and saw Meliador, love on the first sight, as I very much enjoy playing wizards in any pen and paper or PC RPG. I started out with an Alahan force, improved my painting and even played some games. Unfortunately we all know what happend to Rackham and so I got interested in historical wargaming. A local club ran 28mm games ranging from Ancients to Renaissance. The costs for a full army were to high (I was a high school student at the time) so I never really commited fully to 28mm.
I left school, went for university and had neither time nor some local gamers to get into the hobby again, until I moved to New Zealand for some doctoral studies. I decided to start out again, but this time in 15mm Ancients. Affordable and still nice on the table I really enjoyed painting up the first units. I am very interested in Hannibal Barcas and the Punic Wars for that reason, so the choice was easy: Later Carthaginians. I also realised that there are plenty of clubs in New Zealand and I soon found a group of gamers were Field of Glory was the dominant rule system. In the meantime the Reaper Bones Kickstarter came up and my old love of Fantasy gaming joined my love for history.
Since then I am a happy painter and gamer, try to complete my Carthaginians and work on painting the 200 odd Bones miniatures for DnD and generic Dungeon Crawls.
