Zombie survivor figure suggestions.
« on: January 28, 2014, 11:29:12 AM »
Gents and ladies,

I'm looking for some figures to use as survivors for a small zombie apocalypse project. Ideally what I'm looking for is modern survivors in everyday clothing with 'normal' weapons.

By normal what I mean is figures armed with Saturday night specials, small semi-auto pistols, shotguns, hunting rifles, knifes (big F-off shiny ones  ;D) that sort of thing. I'm not looking for figures tooled up like they've just walked out of the stores at Fort Worth! No M4 sopmods, MP5's, M60's, AT4's please.

Do such figures exist?
Ray.

The Wargames Factory male and female survivors are a good place to start. The figures aren't brilliant, but they come with their own weapon sprue.

For single figures, Hasslefree has plenty with pistols, and Studio Miniatures are worth a look

If you'll excuse the pimp Ray, i do some but they are mostly dressed for adverse weather.

There's various Scavenge Skirmish Survive threads on LAF plus Bugsda has painted some (including with machete and billhook) in the store gallery here

http://www.miniaturemojo.co.uk/docs/18/bugsda_gallery/

while my own (less well!) painted versions can be seen on my project website here

My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2024 = 32
(2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

Some of the Offensive Miniatures Rioters and (currently out of production?) Foundry Street Violence Thug packs might be useful if you're looking for folks with assorted improvised melee and ranged weapons. Of course, how much use a paintball gun or a firework on a stick will be against zombies is anyone's guess!

Wargames factory 30 minis survivors sets are good and cheap.

You can see my first 8 minis (stock versions, except the big guy, I gave him some shoes to run, and a few more details like slings, etc...) :

I'm currently working on several new minis, gangers styles. Just using this box and green stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions gents.  :)

Zemjw/Sundayhero@ I'm trying to avoid plastic if possible, I know they have loads of options and Sundayhero has made the set look really good but I'd rather stick with metal.  ;)

Silent Invader@ no worries at all.  ;) There's some lovely figures in your range. Some of the slightly less bulky dressed figures would work.

Michi@ They are some big ladies.  :D But there's a couple there which would be perfect.

I'd seen the Studio miniatures 'not' Daryl, which I'd earmarked but had forgotten about offensives range...  ::)

I've also got a couple of the APEX figures from Fenris that I was hoping with a little conversion work would fit in.

Try Hasslefree they have a good lot and some of Studio minatures
Barbarella: What's that screaming? A good many dramatic situations begin with screaming...

What Bandit86 said Ray - go to Hasselfree they do some cracking stuff. Especially the kids, I've painted some of them up for my lot to play Zombies with.

RAFM
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

You're in the UK, so it can be a bit tricky to get their figures, but Reaper have some survivors in their Chronoscope range

Hasslefree has the biggest choice of survivor like material, WGF survivor sets will give you a lot of choice even more so if you like converting and kit bashing.
