Stamp Mill
« on: 14 June 2008, 04:04:11 AM »
I've finally started completing some of the unfinished projects on my workbench. Here's an outdoor steam operated 3 stamp mill, an essential first step in every mining town's transition from placer to hardrock.

Very impressive. Could you stand a miniature next to it to give an idea of scale. i am trying to work out how big it is?

WOW  :o

As has already been mentioned, the level of detail going into Old West urban areas is seriously impressive.

Lovely model. It's things like this that bring a model town to life - much like you see in model rail layouts. I'd never have thought of adding something like this  :(

The upper flywheel is store bought, but otherwise just basswood strips, brass rod, and some plastic tube for the mill. The boiler is just pink foam, plastic card, and some parts from a ball point pen.

It looks like one of those educational models in a technical museum, only better!
