Footsore Miniatures
« on: 29 January 2014, 05:18:28 PM »
Just a quick plug for a new range of 28mm Franco Prussian War figures that will be released in the coming months. Early days yet but we have updated our blog with some WIP's.

footsoreminiatures.blogspot.com

More to come in the coming weeks. The range will be sculpted by Bill Thornhill (Musketeer Miniatures) and will be manufactured by Donald Hauser. Please feel free to follow us on our blog and facebook page. Plans for Caesars Gallic Wars and the Roman Civil War next.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.  :)

Bill Thornhill will be providing the sculpting and I agree he has some serious skills. I am a huge fan of his figures. I will be providing the manufacturing and well this is a first try for me. My commitment to everyone is; if I wouldn't be happy putting the figures on my gaming table I certainly don't want the figures on yours.

We anticipate two phases for this project:

PHASE I (this year)
French Imperial
Prussians

PHASE II (next year)
French Republic
Prussian Allies and subordinate states

We hope to have figures ready to start shipping in the May time frame although we have set a firm deadline of July of this year.

In addition to regular high quality troops for the period we will also be releasing character packs and vignettes to add to the visual experience. We have some great add-ons planned that I think folks will be glad to have. I know I will.  :D

We are already making plans for our second series of figures next year, in addition to finishing the FPW (is any fun project ever really finished  ;) ), and that's Caesars Gallic Wars with the Roman Civil wars included.

We will keep you posted as information is available and thanks again for the support.

These look good. There's not exactly a wealth of Franco Prussian options out there so it's very nice to see someone doing them.

Not my period at all, but seriously nice looking, characterful figures. Excellent work by Bill.
Perhaps some of the Prussians may prove suitable for my 'one day' Ruritania project  :)

Going by the size of Musketeer Miniatures I would imagine these would be much bigger than the other big range I know of; Foundry. The Foundry figures are lovely, and I have many, but they are small.

The Roman Civil Wars is of particular interest to me, so I look forward to hearing more!

The Footsore range will be 28mm bottom of foot to eye.

We anticipate starting the Gallic Wars and Roman Civil Wars next year.

Depending upon how this range does we will consider 1866. In fact when we begin releasing Prussians they will be in both the earlier tall pickelhaub and the later issue shorter one ( as well as the mutze) as not all units had completed converted to the new issue in 1870.

And frankly it gives us a leg up on the Austro Prussian War.  ;)
