28mm livestock
« on: January 29, 2014, 08:10:39 PM »
I want to get some livestock and only know about Hovels and Redoubts ranges. Does anyone have pics of these ranges either side by side or with 28mm figures or even pics of the Hovels stuff as there are none on the website. Are there other ranges? I'd prefer to buy what I need from one shop for the convenience.

Gripping Beast have a great collection of Dark Ages livestock.

I don't have comparison pictures (and can't take any for obvious reasons), but the ex-husband used to buy Hovels animals and I used to buy Redoubt. And side by side, they're different enough to look odd. Both ranges are quite good and contain useful stuff, but I wouldn't mix them.

I like the Redoubt stuff; they look OK next to chunky 28s.

Thanks for the info Katie - I do like the look of the range from Redoubt. Just wish More of the older companies would upload photos.

there are a few pigs that were sculpted for Foundry's Bronze Age range and they look good painted up for a lot of historical periods. Foundry also did some sheep and an old English sheepdog at one time but dont know if they are still available

I have some goats but they don't look good

Try Irregular Miniatures.  They have a good range of stuff.  I bought some excellent Wild Boars off them recently. Link below:

I got 30 - 35 plastic animals, 28mm, on ebay for $13.00.  Pigs, goats, chickens and cows...even a little doggie I think.  I'm done! :)

Nice work Eric and nice pictures. You just have to know that in medieval time pigs were not pink, but brown  ;)
