Dressing The Table

When I've put games on at shows, or put on an all day game at the local club, people have commented on how the table doesn't look like a typical wargames table. Well here is how to do it yourselves, its very simple and doesn't take to long to do. Just get a few different colour bags of Woodland Scenics (or similar) clump foliage, brake it all into little bits and mix it all together. Once you have your mix just scatter it along the edges of woods, walls, rivers etc as it blends it all together.

It really depends on the game too.

If you play something like Warhammer Fantasy, all that stuff would just get in the way of the regiments and lead to irritated players.

I recently lent out some of my sci-fi terrain for a 40K tournament. Later I heard some players had complained they couldn't fit their tanks between the terrain pieces or something...

The more figures and the more rigid formations you have, the less terrain you want.

Cleaning up is easy, you remove all the scenery then tip the scatter onto the table and then just sweep it into your storage box/bag

maxxon- I only tend to do this for day long games or show games, I wouldn't bother doing it for shorter games.

I find that spending a little more time setting up a table
adds a lot to my enjoyment of the game.
The two photos really prove the point.
I do understand that sometime you just want a quick game.
So if you are happy with the setup, enjoy the game.
That's what it is all about.
