Hammerhead 2014 - New Venue: Newark Showground
« on: February 11, 2014, 10:26:22 AM »
Hammerhead 2014 will be taking place on Saturday 1st March at the New Venue: Cedric Ford Pavilion, Newark Showground, Newark, from 10am until 4.30pm. Entry is £4.00 GBP per adult, £3.00 GBP for minors (16 and under), Children under 9 free.

All 25 games at Hammerhead are visitor participation, which means that you are very welcome 'to have a go' at a wide variety of different historical and fantasy based games run by intrepid gaming clubs, historical societies, wargame companies and enthusiastic groups of gamers. You will be able to play a full game or simply move a few miniatures, roll some dice, have a chat with the people running the game and then move onto the next. The show provides a great opportunity to try out new or familiar game systems and spend a day indulging yourself and friends in this absorbing and fascinating hobby. Whether you're interested in The Great War, WWII, Medieval, AWI, Fantasy or Science Fiction, we are sure that you will find a selection of games you would like to play.

There is a good selection of top traders selling a wide variety of wargaming wares, miniatures, terrain and scenery, books and gaming accessories.

This year Hammerhead show will be hosting a Tabletop Sale in place of the usual bring and buy stand. If you are new to this, you basically hire a table for one hour to sell your unwanted wargames items. You can deal directly with the buyers and answer any questions they may have. With no commission, you keep all the profits.

The Hammerhead 2014 miniature, ‘Leader of Stallions', will be available for the first time on the day of the show for the token price of £1.00 GBP, or FREE if you purchase your Hammerhead Entry ticket online prior to the show.

The car parking is plentiful and FREE. Newark Showground is only a few minutes from the A1 at Newark Junction.

For full details of all the traders and games plus tabletop sales and entry ticket sales, visit the Hammerhead Show website, http://www.hammerheadshow.co.uk

Looking forward to seeing you there, for a great day out! :D

Hammerhead 2014 is being run by Kallistra and The Forest Outlaws Wargamers Club with assistance from the GCN.

What happened to the Trader list? It seems to have shrank quite a bit since I looked last (admittedly quite a while back). This is a real shame as I was really looking forward to this show as there were traders on the list who aren't at Partizan etc several times a year. It would have been nice to see someone new.

This isn't an attack, I'm honestly curious.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Hi Dewbakuk

We believe that Hammerhead show has the right balance of traders and participation games. There are 25 games that visitors are welcome to come and play. There are no demonstration games, the emphasis is upon playing games and celebrating the hobby.

A good selection of top traders are positioned along the available wall space in the new venue with the centre of the room allocated to participation games and a tabletop sales area.

The traders attending Hammerhead 2014 offer a wide selection of different wargame products. We could have filled the gaming area with more traders, but then the important balance between games and traders would have been lost.

It is the excellent games presented at Hammerhead shows over recent years that have given Hammerhead its distinctive character.

One week to go to Hammerhead 2014, come along and roll some dice

Just a reminder that the new venue is the Cedric Ford Pavilion at Newark Showground, NG24 2NY and is on Saturday 1st March.

There are a few spaces available for the Tabletop sales, why not hire a table and turn your unwanted wargames items into cash.

See website for full details. http://www.hammerheadshow.co.uk

Could you ask them to reduce the tea and coffee prices next year?

At £1.80 for a cup of tea it would be cheaper to drink beer.
