You are welcome to steal.   ;).  As usual you seem to have done a better job on it.  For my insulae project I went for quantity not quality....

I was going to graffiti mine... many apt examples, just waiting to be plugged into Google translate:

The essential is to complete a project and your city looks great .
i'm not working for a demo standard building, just something pratical, strong to handle and easy to use.   ;)
Thank you for the graffiti link.
 ;D
Cheers

I've just added an Arab type group to my gangs after picking up some Old Glory Eastern Mob figures that were based as hordes. Fortunately they came off the 5-6 figure base easily, so 15 of them were singly based on washers and a Fantasy type Arab in a litter carried on the shoulders of 2 hefty slaves has gone to be painted by a friend who is painting my 2 Roman coaches as well in exchange for some plastic log cabins that I no longer required.

Now to look to some buildings including a latrine.
Cheers,

but as i paint figurines with enamel, i can't do it too much in the living because madame is not very happy with the smell of terebentine combined with enamel paints....so i make some breaks and go on the LAF...

Working on it.  Now that I'm back on my speed painting approach and not trying to make my hobby into something it's not I'm making good progress on my first miniatures for the project.  I also recruited my first local participant.  He's a WAB player who has lots of individually based stuff.  We played a small wilderness skirmish using his miniatures and a bunch of his stuff will be appropriate for fighting in and around a city on the edge of Roman held Syria.

I thinking going for practical when it comes to terrain is the way to go.  Roman streets are very interesting and I'm trying to figure out how to make my buildings sufficiently modular that I can turn them around different ways and still have a good gaming space.

Though it might be that I need to start thinking about it more like I'm building terrain for a fantasy dungeon than a mostly open wargaming area.  Things can be cramped with so many doorways and rooms.

As for enamels, do citrus based thinners work like they do for oil paints?  I do oil washes or the occasionally blended highlight with oils and find that citrus thinner doesn't smell nearly as bad as turpentine (except for people who hate the smell of oranges).

Interesting, it sounds like you are describing something more like a typical maze-like Middle Eastern medina/souq.   Such as the market of Aleppo, sadly damaged in recent fighting.   From a gaming standpoint, somewhat more interesting than a typical Roman grid layout.

Modular sounds intriguing--you could build them on adhesive floor tiles; nine of them would be enough for a SSD game.    Anyway, as you said, perhaps you should start your own topic to avoid hijacking Eric's ;)

That's look interesting. but Modular building will require a good brainstorming before assembling !

The only reason I could think of for a prostitute to be arrested like that in ancient Rome would have been failure to pay tax (or perhaps "exercising her office" too near a temple)!  And I doubt that they would have arrested any patron who wore a toga.

Every is possible in the dark street of Suburra (popular part of Rome)....

Especially with the "Song of Shadows and Dust" rules.

Hope to present you some new buildings in a near future. I'm working on the Lucius Villa !

As i'm reading the adventure of Macro and Cato from the Simon Scarrow novels, i have a full list of scenarios and ideas for this project.....but so little time, sniff.

Cheers
Eric

Some new characters to fill my streets (still in building phase)... :'(

The 2 guys on the left are BTD Greek.
The 2 in the middle are BTD egyptians (for the Alexandria Project).
The 2 others are :
A Gripping Beast Pict Chieftain converted into a Jewish/arab merchant (just take off the sword scabbard and add a big plastic bag as a purse). Add a chest a his feet.
A Foundry Goddess turn into a merchant/slave.

More details on my blog (translate button available)  ;)

Cheers
Eric
