Die-cast vans/pickups, etc...?
« on: 24 June 2008, 11:19:23 AM »
Hi

Does anyone know of some nice online stores that sell die-cast modern vehicles (1/48 or 1/43), and have vans, busses, pickup trucks, and the likes. Also farming stuff/road building stuff would be nice...

I can find plenty of passenger cars for modern in my local toy stores, but the other stuff is either under- or over-scaled :-/
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Yeah, OK, there is a few there.

I tried searching Ebay before, but never many results... Maybe there's just not that many models of the required types out there...

Thanks, I'll go roaming around, trying different searches  :)

Main problem with Ebay is that in between 10.000 Porsches, Ferraris and Formula 1 racers there are only about 100 Trucks... But it gives you a good overview which companies do the required scale, and then you can search for these on the web.

Ertl and several other companies make 1:50 scale construction and farm vehicles. I'd recomend searching ebay for 1:50 scale die cast.

That might be an idea!

I always have problems with this one. I have just retrieved from my parents' home a few of my old model cars, and in particular some of the large scale Matchbox models of yesteryear. Now some of the details are too brightly chromed, or can do with better paint - but that would remove the collectibility of the model. My most anguish-causing case is a Limited Edition Rolls Royce armoured car in RAF colours. The scale looks right, but the markings (RAF roundels) are all off centre! On a limited edition model! Aarrgh. What to do?  ??? :(

What to do with the RR armoured car? give it to me  ;D

Siku make lots of Modern buses , rubbish trucks , farm vehicles etc in 1/50th . I just wish they would produce the farm wagon in 1/50th rather than 1/32nd.

Problem with Siku (the german equivalent to Matchbox) is that it's nearly impoosible to find out the scale.
