Preview of upcoming 28mm Giant Ape troop member
« on: 12 March 2014, 09:01:54 PM »
Greetings,

This is a preview of a giant ape that will be one of 6 apes in a family group. I plan to run a small, limited Kickstarter to produce the troop along with their adopted human daughter. This Kickstarter will be my entry into producing a range of 28 mm beasts and characters inspired by Skull Island and the universe of Edgar Rice Burrough's. Enjoy.

Best regards,

Jodee

Still, a chap ought to look smart in front of the men, don't you think?

Not too big. 80mm. I wanted him to be more akin to the size in the 1933 original scaled at around 16 feet when standing tall. Big enough to wrestle a Trex or full grown bull elephant but not colossal like in the recent movie.

Jodee,

When you say limited Kickstarter, do you mean limited in what it produces or limited as in "limited edition" so that those who miss out on the Kickstarter won't be able to get the figures?

I mean limited in what is produced. I do not intend to make this a profit-laden Kickstarter that gets drawn out with stretch goals. I will offer the initial models at the cheapest price possible. Once funding is reached the Kickstarter will end.

Excellent giant ape. Most interesting subject as i am a fan of the world of Edgar Rice Burroughs. I will keep an eye out for this in the future.

The face is great. I'm less convinced by the rest. For me, the body looks  too much like that of a human rather than a gorilla, but I can see what the sculptor (who is it btw?) tried to achieve and could see why others see the anthropomorphism of the sculpt as a plus.
